My pockets have pockets. And in those pockets, are more pockets
I received my order for four pairs of 5.11 Covert Tactical Pants. You can get them at that link cheap but sizes and colors are limited. A brief review:
100% cotton and thick. One of the issues I have generally with khaki style pants is that they’re too thin, which, for me, makes them uncomfortable. These pants wear almost like a pair of work jeans but they’re appropriate for a business casual setting.
Supposedly wrinkle resistant, and we shall see how that holds up.
There are discrete zipper pockets below the regular front pockets. They are sized for fitting something like a cell phone. Pretty handy to have. The new version has a larger side pocket but look less, err, covert.
In the front pockets are another set of zippered pockets. I find this handy and keep my keys in one and my Droid in the other to prevent my keys from scratching the Droid’s screen. They have a total of 12 10 pockets.
The pants have a tunnel waistband which, basically, makes them adjustable. I don’t usually like this in pants but it does make them fit better when you have a holstered firearm.
They’re treated with Teflon to repel stains.
So far, I am a fan.
Update: try as i might, i only find 10 pockets.

Love mine. Can’t find them anymore in my size, though (34×32).

The secret to dressing well is to let the women in your life — wife, mother, sister-in-law, daughter(?) — buy your clothes. Except for shoes/boots and hats, of course.

The only statement I make with the clothes I buy is that Goodwill doesn’t want them. 😉

I love mine too! Great pants, especially for concealed carry. I got mine when they were still coming with the free belt. I planned on buying 2 more pairs, and I really wanted more belts, they were half the reason for the purchase! Uncle, did you get belts? If so, what do you think of them?

I got no belts.

Hey Unc, (and everyone else who owns these)
How true to size are they? I generally wear 34×36, and they run the gamut from levis cargos being loose waisted and all but dragging the ground to the Old Navy cargos that are snug and only get a single break at the shoe. What is everyone’s opinion on the fit for these? I don’t have a place local where I can try them on.
Thanks,
Pol

seem a bit long to me (i wear 34-34). But do not drag the ground. I figured for $16, I’d risk it 😉

I picked up a couple pairs a few weeks ago, and they are pretty good. I was just excited to find decent semi-dress pants with a 36″ inseam…

How deep are the rear pockets?
I have some cargo pants that the pockets are so short that the velcro closures won’t close when I put my standard size wallet in them.

Yo Dawg, I heard you like pockets….

I like mine for winter wear, very comfortable, but I find them to be too hot for the desert in summer. Cell phone/mp3 pockets are great and the double front pockets are nice for those times where you want your clip knife but might not want it hanging on the pocket.

12 pockets? Cool!
But what does it have in it’s pocketses?

I’m wearing mine right now. The waist fit is good, but they do wear a little long. Super comfy though and more pockets than I have stuff to put in them.

Nice. Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

2 rear pockets
2 “normal” front pockets
2 “hidden” front pockets (inside the normal pockets)
4 magazine pockets (2 each inside the hidden pockets)

I wear my different colors at least 3 days a week to work.
I’m disappointed they are discontinuing these, since I find them perfectly acceptable in my medical workplace, but I’m not sure about the “new” version.
I’ve been steadily downsizing, started with 44/34 down to 38/34 now, and I agree, they run about 1/2″ long compared to my other pants. Size is pretty true, though, in the waist.
I love the tunneled expandable waist, since I can carry concealed IWB without having to go up a waist size and then deal with that issue when I’m not carrying in the waist.

Keys in pockets suck. That’s one of the reasons I like my Ford vehicles… keyless entry with the little touchpad on the door.
May 20th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
Where are they made?
Reminds me of the jeans commercial with the pool boy and the wife slips him a key. Wife’s hubby has 2 goons search him but find no key, cause it’s in the hidden pocket…

Dammit, MSJ, I was gonna do this!

I love these pants. But watch out for the dryer. My kids tossed a pair of mine into the dryer with some towels and dried them on hot. They shrunk up almost an inch and a half in length. Waist didn’t change much. My dear wife is going to cut the legs off and turn them into a pair of shorts.
Worst part is they were the color I really liked and can’t get any more of.

Wish they came in a 33×30…

For everyone with issues not finding their size, most tailors (that I have been to) will hem the pants to your length for less than 5 bucks. The waist on these are very versatile, I buy 34″, but usually wear 36, and I can even carry IWB with the 34’s. I bought 34×34’s and had them tailored to 34×30’s for a TOTAL cost of 20 bucks per pair.
