The law must be enforced
But Mayor Daley won’t say if the 80 year-old man who defended his family with a gun will be prosecuted for unlawful possession.

Don’t worry, Daley will just wait till the press looks in another direction before filling charges. After all, the statute of limiations goes for several years.
The Chicago mob does not forget.

Illinois passed a law several years after a similar incident ended with the burglar wounded by the homeowner. He lived in a suburb of Chicago (Can’t recall offhand which one) that had outlawed handguns. Upon being told that he would be charged his attorney told them that if they did that then the homeowner would not testify agaings the intruder. They dropped the charges against the homeowner.
Shortly after that the State of Illinois passed a law saying that if you used a firearm in selfdefense inside your house and it was a “goog shoot” (I am summarizing) they you could not be charged with failure to regisiter. Not sure about lack of FOID charges.
Whether Daley knows about the law or will follow the law is not known.

The law that resulted from that incident almost gave me hope for my former state, but not enough to prevent me from leaving.
