In Massachusetts

Proposed law won’t even let you touch a machine gun.

Hardy on Kagan

Not that impressed. In other news, she covered for plagiarists?

Conversation this morning

Me to my son: Well, look at you. I think you grew some last night.

Him: I did?

Me: Well, you are four today.

Him: Yeah. I did grow last night.

Happy birthday, son.

Pics and a report. Looks quite sharp.

It’s a black president, Huey Freeman

The Boondocks episode on Barack Obama was brilliant, guaranteed to offend liberals. You can watch it here. Seems that it doesn’t matter who the president is, Aaron McGruder doesn’t like any of them.

Keep your booger-hook off the bang-switch

What’s that? He tried to use the gun as a booger-hook? Oh:

An armed 23 year old policeman in Moscow fell victim of his own carelessness. He decided to scratch an itchy spot on his nose with a gun and accidentally killed himself, the Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.

Wait, what?

Bill Clinton to Bloomberg: I’m glad you don’t like due process

Add another politician to the list of folks who want to deny rights by putting people on a list that cannot be verified or questioned. And he calls himself a redneck? As a redneck, them there are fighting words.

Well, duh

Do Gun Buybacks Work? “No Simple Answer,” Says Mayor

But guess which mayor?

New Barrett

Ok, an old Barrett. But in a new caliber: 5.56 Rec 7

Unpossible

Gang members are not building machine guns. Why would they do that if they can go right to a gun show loophole and buy them? That’s what the press tells me they do. A couple things:

It’s simple, easy to do and its illegal. San Antonio gang members have a new hobby: Turning rifles into automatic weapons.

Maybe. Some guns are quite difficult to turn automatic, like an AR-15. Need a milling machine and knowledge of how to. Some are quite easy and can be converted with a shoestring. And this is just pathetic:

These rifles were not born this way. Each one has been altered, re-configured and and converted –.to kill.

.22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer

I’ve always wanted to neck down a 50 cal to 22. This is a good start.

Good question

Kevin:

And why aren’t we CELEBRATING a four-fold reduction in the accidental gunshot deaths of children over the past twenty years even as well over 60 million new guns have entered circulation during that same period?

Doesn’t fit the narrative.

Clean up

How to clean up explosive targets.

Bredesen to break his promise twice?

Phil Bredesen made a campaign pledge supporting expanding right to carry laws. He’s broken that promise once. Now, Campfield thinks he will do it again.

Recovered

Those 120 guns that were stolen have been found.

Android outsells iPhone in the first quarter. Now, we can argue about the better software (Android) or better hardware (Android, still) but the thing that’s going to ruin the iPhone is the carrier being AT&T. I’d have had one years ago if it weren’t for that.

Having all this information is bad

Barack Obama:

With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation

Guns in parks

41 magnum trumps grizzly. In other news, a self defense story makes the AP.

Interesting

So, if I understand this correctly, Colt is being paid to make FN’s guns. And FN is being paid to make Colt’s guns. Ok, then.

That new supreme court justice smell!

So, Obama has nominated Elena Kagan to fill the slot. I know nothing of her and a quick google doesn’t really yield much. On guns, I find only the following:

Regarding gun laws, Kagan says she has “no reason to believe that the court’s analysis was faulty” in the 2008 Supreme Court case striking down the District of Columbia’s strict gun-control laws. And she added that her office would likely “continue to defend” against constitutional challenges on various federal regulations concerning firearms.

And maybe decent on property rights:

She said that that she considered the controversial 2005 Supreme Court case, Kelo v. New London, which upheld a broad reach of the Constitution’s Takings Clause “settled” law, but said that she would side with Congress if it sought to curtail that ruling. That Connecticut eminent domain issue fired up the conservative base, which believed that the government trampled on property rights in this case.

Otherwise, no public record on contentious issues?

NSSF Responds to NY Times ‘Government Watch List’ Editorial

LTE:

As it stands, most people have no idea if they are on such a government “watch” list, why they might be on it, or how to get off of it if they are wrongfully listed. This should ring alarm bells within any individual or institution which values Constitutional protections.

Sentience

PSH: Not just for guns anymore.

Pro tip

If you’re going to film a movie scene about a robbery, you may want to let the police know that.

BOLO

Over 120 guns stolen in Indiana.

Training

Good:

Five female students, including one who’d recently completed a self-defense class, jumped to the aid of a fellow student, grabbing her knife-wielding attacker and holding him until police officers arrived at Husson University, officials said Wednesday.

Jesse Hladik put her new skills to work when she lunged for the hand holding a knife, while fellow students grabbed the man’s other limbs and wrestled him to the ground. Hladik, 21, of Buckfield, said she knew the pressure points to make him drop the knife, thanks to the class.

Rule Four

Be sure of your target and what is behind it:

A 50-year-old man was mistaken for a target and accidentally shot during an exercise at a firearm-training facility in northern Arizona, authorities said.

The Florida man was training with three of his colleagues Sunday at the Gunsite Academy in Paulden, which is about 30 miles north of Prescott, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The man was standing on a catwalk as his colleague fired at targets. The colleague saw the black silhouette of the man and fired, shooting the man in the abdomen, officials said.

Also: Trainees had been told not to shoot in the area of the catwalk

Moms and guns
