He says it keeps its zero, which I dunno if a believe, but if it does, props to him!

    It’s black, so it’s tactical 🙂

If it’s stupid but it works, it’s not stupid. And I’m all for it if it works.

The scope isn’t mil-dot w/ 1000 yards .75 MOA groups, so it’s possible it keeps the zero.

It’s pretty redneck, but I’ve often wondered why nobody makes an optic mount that works like that. Seems like a way better design than one of those zero-holding mounts that let you remove the scope, but then what do you do with it? Put it in your pocket?

Note that it’s a SPRING-LOADED door hinge. That would mean that it would return to the same place each time.

He tommy’d up the carbine extensively. I have no clue why he thought he needed a muzzle brake: by the time a .40 round gets down that 16.25″ barrel, it doesn’t have enough blast behind the bullet to let a muzzle brake work.

The guy in the video seems to be a decent fitter, but working with that plastic fore-end is iffy as to alignment. He didn’t say just how he fastened that hinge to the rifle, but I’d guess he inletted the top of the fore-end for it and screwed it down.

A basic why on all of that. The .40S&W has about a 100-yard effective range (drops off severely after about 120), and most folks can use the excellent ghost-ring sights which came on the gun. I can put an 8″ group out at 100 yards with my old eyes!

I’d consider a laser before I’d bolt on a red-dot. Laser and light, and you have a very nice short-range carbine for urban work.

Yo Uncle, do we really need to waste broadband
    on this?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
