On Top Shot

Glad none of the zip-line guys shot themselves in the knee.

I think someone at History Channel has been watching YouTube clips from the 2006 Desert Classic. 🙂

    No doubt.

I’m glad too. But wasn’t that so cool?! Now to convince a certain other person to build one on the back yard…

  4. Fred Says:

    That is a point I didn’t even think about…

  5. Sailorcurt Says:

I was thinking that the whole time they were shooting.

Ben Stoeger had some comments about the zipline over at the High Road. The line was safe, despite what the camera angle may show.

If you’re doing that, and pop yourself in the knee, you deserve what you get for not having a proper sight picture.

What I like about the show is all the creativity of the targets and exercises.

What I hate about Top Shot is the whining of the competitors. I wish they’d just shut up and get on with it. HGTV’s Design Star show has less whining, from a group of people made up of women and near-women.

To be fair, I doubt that the competitors whine nearly as much as they’re being portrayed as doing.

The show producers are framing the competitors the way they want to frame them, in order to increase the “popular appeal” to the reality show crowd by manufacturing controversy.

That’s the name of the game in this genre. I call it the “Jerry Springer” effect, and is exactly why I generally dispise this show format.

I have to admit, I didn’t enjoy this episode nearly as much as the first one. Maybe the novelty of knowing someone on the show is wearing off. Especially since they really haven’t even introduced Caleb yet. I’m hoping that means that he’s going to be on the show for a while before he gets eliminated so they’ve got plenty of time for us to get to know him later, but it’s annoying to see the one guy I actually want to see more of consigned to relative anonymity.

Or maybe it’s just because I really wanted Brad to be gone so I was disappointed when he survived the elimination challenge?

Anyway, I’m not ready to write it off yet.

I agree with Sailorcut. I also think that there are too many egos on the show and its embarassing for me as a shooter. If non-shooters are watching they may get the opinion that professionals are a bunch of arrogant a-holes. It seems alot of the professionals seem to be pretty arrogant and do not portray most of the shooters I have met. I like the show overall but DVR it so I can watch it when I want too. I would not set my Sunday schedule around it to watch it.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
