It was due to a conviction on misdemeanor domestic assault. Wouldn’t that make him a prohibited person under federal law, anyway?

Unfortuneatly he probabily still has a federal disability.

Well that depends when the federal law was enacted.

It’s my understanding that the federal law applies retroactively, and that that application has been upheld in the courts.

The Lautenberg amendment is an ex-post facto law and has been upheld by the courts, even though such are prohibited by constitution.
Give you any ideas of what treatment is due judges?
