What media bias?

Word choice: GOP AG Candidate Wants Gun Training For Kids

The implication being that the candidate wants kids shooting in school, which I think is commendable. However, reading the article, it’s clear the candidate wants to teach gun safety.

About time! Thef Left claims to care about “safety” so let us begin.

Firearms training should begin at 7th grade and be mandatory each year for males and females. Students could “test out” of it by showing training at a certified gun school.

A qualification course (safety, shooting, and care of) with an M16 should be required for graduation as well.

The Left will love it as it shall be mandatory.

    Agreed.

  3. Robert Says:

They’ll probably try to think of some way to teach a safety class that doesn’t involve having an actual gun (or even a replica) present….

Three of the Four banner ads on that page are for:
    Ned Lamont
    Democrat. Governor.

Refresh three times, finnally get all three to change, one is for:
    Dan Malloy
    Democrat for Governor

Most of the refresh cycles keep old Ned and Dan in the rotation, with Ned being the primary Ad displayed.

    No bias there at all.

SB, I disagree, Gun safety should be taught in all grades. Just differing curriculum.

Elementary school should be basic awareness and avoidance. The Eddie Eagle Program seems to do this perfectly. And it need to be no different than we were all taught about busy streets, and playing with matches.

At this point Robert’s snark actually might work out just fine in reality. I mean did your elementary teacher bring in matches to show you how not to play with them? Nope, just don’t play with them unless a trusted adult is around.

Middle School the 4 rules should be drummed into every head so they remember them as well as the ABCs, and “Stop Drop and Roll”. Ideally kids would have to show basic competence in .22 rifle, but maybe that isn’t necessary.

High School, more of the 4 rules, and ideally competence in rifle, shotgun, and basic handguns for seniors. Tho if we want to be all touchy-feely hippy-dippy, there could be elective rifle, trap, and pistol teams.

Do this, and gun accidents would fall into the statistical noise.

I think you hit the bullseye Weer’d Beard.

Thanks, JD, I learned how to do that in college! ; ]

    WB,

I foresee a future blog post on this project wherein you bring your program to life.

  9. Shootin' Buddy Says:

    WB,

You write the Model Program and I’ll draft the Model Legislation and get it in front of my friends at Legislative Services Agency in Indianapolis.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
