Top Shot: Know Bows

The guy who was kicked off the island should have been. After all, he voted for the best shot on the team entirely for personal reasons. Granted, the best shot is a dick who said something awful. But he’s still the best shot.

I know nothing of bows, except that I shoot them with the wrong hand. I also shoot pool and sling shots lefty. I don’t know why. But this guy knows bows and tells you all about it.

LOVED this episode. My first bow was a long bow, and I have had compounds and crossbows in the mix since then. I look for more of these types of things from the show, like knife throowing, axe, hatchet and tomahawk throws(all of which I also do or have done)and maybe as you alluded too a slin g shot or something along those lines. Take away all the fancy toys and it begins to seperate the MEN from the BOYS

Sounds to me like no one on the show knows what they are doing. Or at least the guys picking the weapons.

Watched some of the Top Shot and it is, to my mind, pretty hokey. I like the fact that we are making some heros to be admired, just don’t agree with the elimination format. Or the fact they are not using weapons or formats of any of the weapons competition venues or formats.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

Teaching the daughter archery. Mediterranean release. Not sure. I want her to learn it right but she’s only eight. Maybe primary release would be bettet right now for her little fingers.

  4. Sebastian Says:

I have a weird handed things too. I write right handed. I’m a left handed bowler. Bows I use right handed. But I do pool left handed, and also favor the left hand for certain kinds of tool use. I have no idea whether it’s a form of ambidextrousness, or I’m just a weirdo.

  5. Eric R. Shelton Says:

The show takes twice as long as it needs to, thanks to all the “drama” aspect. Having said that, I thought Kelly’s joke was funny, obviously so did others when he told them about it, it was Bill’s EX-wife (get over it, man!), and Kelly apologized. Bill was a jerk and I’m glad he’s gone. Now can we please get back to the shooting challenges?

  6. The Inconvenience Says:

Ditto 100% on Eric. Kid told a bad joke and apologized. Since it was an ex-wife he probably thought it’d be appreciated. Bill actually said, “I don’t like the man you’re becoming.” Really? Who says that?

But yeah, back to the shooting please. So what if the show is cheesy? Have fun with it.

  7. aeronathan Says:

Bill shoulda put his big boy pants on, manned up, got the $&*^% over it, and back to business like anybody with a job to do should. Someone’s tender sensibilities shouldn’t get in the way of getting the job done…

  8. DesertRat Says:

Kelly’s only 22. At that age a lot of kids are still doing keg stands, one night stands, and barely passing classes. He’s got a lot going for him, but he’s still going to display the stupidity of youth on occasion.

He did apologize and Bill could have turned it into a teachable moment for Kelly.

Oh, well it’s a reality show, they are almost required by law to have drama. More shooty goodness please.

  9. Yu-Ain Gonnano Says:

While I understand Bill’s initial anger (not all divorcees hate their EXes), if realizing you made a mistake, apologizing for it, and trying to make ammends is “becoming a man Bill doesn’t like” I’d take his hatred as a compliment.

As for the shooting, I’m glad they aren’t using standard competition formats. In a show about being the best “jack of all trades” shooter using a standard competition format (like IDPA) means the winner will be determined by who has the most experience in that particular format, not who has more raw ability.

That’s why Brad’s constant: I don’t wanna go home because: “I can’t shoot a long bow’/’I shoot GLOCKs not Berettas’ is grating. This show is not about GLOCK shooters being better at shooting GLOCKS than the Rem700 shooters are at shooting a Rem700, That’s not the competition you signed up for.

    Thanks for the linky-love, dude!

  11. Cowboy Blob Says:

I grew up shooting my Uncle’s left-handed hunting bow. Screwed me up for life.

  12. straightarrow Says:

I had hoped this would be a show I could like. But it is not. So far arrogance far outweighs talent and ability.

I do not want America to watch this show and end up believing we are all like that.

I do agree that the right guy got sent home.

  13. Thorisin Says:

I don’t know if anybody remembers this but Bill also voted for Kelly on the first episode and this was I’m guessing before the ex-wife joke. Bills comment went along the lines with Kelly being too young. I have a feeling that Bill may have had an issue with Kelly from the beginning. If that is the case then it wouldn’t have mattered what Kelly said or even didn’t say, Bill would have found an issue with it. I think Bills behavior was childish to say the least. Kelly apologized and Bill refused to let it go. Bad form. I was glad to see Bill go.

  14. Ravenwood Says:

Did you see this week’s? I think it was rigged against the guy that lost. Looking at the targets lined up, there was no chance he could have won.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
