Haslam on Guns
Looks like he’s sending out a mailer touting his pro-gun street cred. You can see the mailer here. A few notes:
Touts his recently purchased NRA life membership, which was a result of some bad press he got for joining Mayor Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Guns.
Says out of state interests attacking TN gun shows were wrong. A direct repudiation of Mayors Against Guns.
Knoxville’s is the most gun-friendly big city? Well, unless you cut through a park while strapped, I guess.
I wonder who the mailer went to? I haven’t gotten one. But I’m wondering if snagged a copy of the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit Database?

What I have to wonder is what was his motivation for joining MAIG in the first place? Is he a Democrat?

Rustmiester,
Republicans can be anti-gun too. But I’m not lookin’ for an election year convert. I’ll be voting for Lt. Gov., Ron Ramsey, who has a long pro-armed self defense record in the TN Legislature and is, according to reports, the only Gov candidate with a TN HCP.

“Knoxville’s is the most gun-friendly big city?”
Big city? WTMF! You are the 125th biggest city in the U.S., Candidate Jethro.
We’re number 125! We’re number 125!

I am undecided, between wamp and ramsey. I am waiting for talk radio to tell me who i should vote for.

Most gun friendly big city? Richmond VA is comparable in size and I think that our city is MORE gun-friendly! IT’S ON, NOW!
We can carry concealed or open everywhere except schools, courthouses, airports, and well….that’s it.
Oh, and the actual General Assembly Room. But the rest of the Capitol is open.

I got one this very day. It’s curious.

Shooting buddy-
Where are you getting the 125th largest city info.
The last time I check (many years ago) we were something like no. 77.
I wish we were no. 325 personally and I like Knoxville a lot more when it had 1/2 the population that it does today.
Take care.

A man that will turn his back on his philosophical brothers cannot be trusted to not turn his back on his new “buddies”. Dump this sorry bastard.

Thanks, Shootin buddy.
I must have been thinking about the metropolitan area listing which shows us at no. 73.
I still wish that Knoxville was a lot smaller.

We’ve been through this too many times already. Bush 41 got his lifetime NRA thingy on, before the election. Then he cancelled it and soundly criticized the NRA.
Beware the fakes out there, siphoning off the pro liberty vote so as to bottle it up and render it ineffective. There are hundreds of them.

Anyone who believes Bill Haslam doesn’t pay attention. You cannot trust this man. He will absolutely change our rights if he becomes Governor. How anyone can fall for this John Kerry flip flop is inexplicable.
Haslam is a gun grabber. You will see if he wins.

The fine print. It says Most gun friendly “big city in Tennessee” Between Nashville and Memphis, that may be right…but still…not much competition there. Of course…most gun actions are pre-empted by the state and all three ban it in parks. So…I’m not sure where that comes from.
The flyer also says, “A life member of the NRA” which is misleading since he just recently got that “life” membership. A little play on words to make it sound like he’s a “life-LONG” member which he is not.

Oh…and if you look closely at that picture, you can tell I had just ripped it slightly to throw it away (as I do with all my mail anyway), and thought…”I should take a picture of this and post it online first.” 🙂

Haslam’s a ecent lifetimer with the NRA, huh?
Lately they’ve been selling out to the left with Campaign Disclosure for which they got an exemption for themselves and threw theother pro-gun groups uinder the bus and endorsing Harry Reid instead of Sharon Angle (however you spell her name) who has been endorsed by Gunowners of America.
Join Gunowners of America (GOA) who has endorsed Ramsey. They support Constitutionalists and ALL of the Bill of Rights. In Tennessee, join Tennessee Firearms Association. Candidates those two organizations endorse are the real deal on gun rights!

I will never vote for Haslem, I think that he and his co-mayor(Yes, I forgot his #$%^&*# name.) are both a bit ‘light in the loafers’, if you will. I also have a hard time plugging Mr. Wamp. He was a member of the ‘Freshmen’ group in ’93. ‘Member ‘dem? They are the ones who let this $%^& happen. He got my vote once, he needs to try harder this time. Convince me, Zach. Prooooove yourself.

Uncle, am speculating, as well, that they snagged a copy of the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit Database.

Do not early vote. Wait until election day and see the polls. Vote for whoever has the highest poll rating that isn’t Bill Haslam. That is who you should vote for regardless of who it is.
This is simple. Keep Haslam out of the Governors office. As of now 36% are undecided. Haslam has an 11 point lead. Most of that undecided vote will go Haslam’s way unless enough people get the word out.
You can’t trust Bill Haslam. You can’t trust Mike Bloomberg. Richie Rich doesn’t see the world the way you do.

I’m kinda torn between Wamp and Ramsey myself. I love ramsey’s politics and accomplishments, but I wonder if we wouldn’t be better off with him staying as LT gov and in charge of the senate? he has done yeomans work for gun rights and civil rights in general there. Closest thing to small l libertarian we are gonna get.
However, Wamp has some wookie suit tendancies, which could be fun as a gov.
Regards,
Pol
