The Condor folks consider this settled science. At the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and in the very good Condor program book by the director of the program they think its a key element. They think the condors get lead poisoning from eating gut piles during hunting season on the Kaibab plateau. They are measuring lead levels in Condors like mad on each of the birds at least once a year. I was sceptical.
