As I said before:
I think it’s a good thing for liberals to arm themselves and, frankly, I am not concerned what their particular reason or come to the pro-gun-Jesus moment is. I don’t care if you’re arming yourself to defend against right wing militias, rabid hippies, bigfoot, or to prevent friendly fire from wayward members of the Earth Liberation Front and the People’s Front of Judea. I’m just glad they’re seeing the value and self-reliance inherent in doing for themselves. As such, I welcome them into the gunny fold.

Just remember there is a polar difference between “progressives” and Liberals. Websters 1828 dictionary defines “Liberals” quite clearly.
On the other hand, Herbert Croly, one of the founders of the New Republic, defined “progressivism” in sharp contrast to Webster’s definition of Liberalism.
Croly was one of the first to explicate the modern version of Plato’s Republic. The one where “Shoulders” was asked who would do all the work in a Republic, and his answer was “We shall all have slaves.”

I’m not so sure. The Left in democracies doesn’t like to get its hands dirty. If they can order the military and police to do their will then they can remain gun-free.
Of course, this depends on 1) whether the military and police will obey legitimately-elected Leftist officials and 2) how intense any “civil war” gets.

This topic came up recently in a conversation with a liberal co-worker. She told me that she considered guns “ideological suicide” for liberals as guns are “innately conservative”. That is, the process of obtaining a firearm and training with it forces you into a “conservative sphere of influence,” wherein you must consort with conservatives and at a very minimum passively accept their mindset.
I asked her if she’d rather be dead than to have to consort with conservatives and she answered that in her social and professional circle “it’s pretty much the same thing”.
They find comfort and reassurance in complete ideological purity. They’ll happily go the way of the dodo rather than step out of their comfort zones.

Ranxerox got it right. Gun ownership is incompatible with progressive/liberal dogma.
Shoot a gun a few times and 99% of the anti-gun rhetoric becomes incompatible with your experiences. Own a gun for a while, practice with it, learn a bit about the laws for gun ownership or self defense or hunting or target shooting, and 99.999% of the progressive anti-gun rhetoric is proven not just false but inherently contradictory with reality.
I take as many liberals shooting as I can, just to mess with their heads. I don’t have to do anything or say anything other than treat them as I would any other novice shooter but they come away from the experience with a different mindset completely.
And once you lose your cognitive dissonance, all the other progressive BS is up for questioning, too.

Being a true liberal, I’m for ALL of the Bill of Rights for Everyone and especially the exercise of the Right of armed self-defense.
I think what so-called liberals and conservatives (or the left and right) are gonna find out, is that it’s us against them (the elite ruling class) who use a false left-right paradigm, (the old divide and conquer) to further their agenda for global corporate tyranny.

The self reliance and personal sovereignty that comes from being a gun owner is fundamentally incompatible with the statist progressive value system.
I’ll have to take a liberal shooting.

I had a admin once who was a flaming liberal.
She had a hard time working in a very conservative construction office.
I talked her and her ‘life partner’ into going with me to a range. They had a blast and were talking about buying their own guns. Last I heard she was still a tree hugging, save the world lib, but with a gun.
