Even sadder than not getting out of committee: The very concept wouldn’t even _occur_ to most of the political class — irrespective of any chance of passing.

It could easily be snuck into any of the 10,000 page bills that passed and will pass.

An amendment to the constitution is a different fish than a rider on any old bill. The constitution limits government power, at least in theory. Bills generally spend government revenues, or generate them from the citizenry, or criminalize behaviors, thus expanding gov power.
I’s like to see a rewrite of the Commerce Clause to return it to its original intent, and a rewrite of the 14th Amendment’s P&I clause, to clarify its intent, but I’m not waiting for either of those to pass committee votes either.
