Knife Blogging

All the cool kids are doing it.

Frankly, I’ve never been into knives that much. I have an Old Timer given to me by my dad that I keep in the nightstand. And all I carry in terms of a knife is a Leatherman Skeletool (my brief review is here).

Handy tools to have.

    Knife culture is its own thing. Hard to explain. I feel naked without a knife even if it’s a three-inch stockman.

    I have used a favorite Gerber to chop the rusted bolts off a toilet seat, pounding it with a hammer. I used the same knife to put putty on a window pane. A razor sharp Benchmade folding fighting knife to slice liver for a ragout.

    I use one kitchen knife for everything from slicing tomatoes to slicing bread — an eight-inch Forschner boning knife.

    I carry a well-worn Buck 442 folder and an orginal Leatherman in a belt sheath,along with a 2 1/2 inch Buck or Kershaw in my pocket at all times.If for some reason I have to wear a suit,I have a couple slim-line lockbacks.Either way,I never go anywhere without at least one knife on me.
    I almost got arrested at a VA hospital because of it.

    I like my Skeletool, but it just isn’t as convenient as my Spyderco Delica for most knife tasks, so I carry both.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
