As they should be! We are the kind of people that would stop and help if Officer Joe(whoever)was on the ground getting his brains kicked in. At least I would………..

Hey lesson to take from that:

Except for the specific “I have CCW” phrases thats what you do when you get pulled over anyway.

Nah I already have a military base sticker on my car to get me out of tickets.

I suspect that won’t work as well in Mass, but then again every beat-cop I’ve talked too thinks the mass laws suck too…

I keep my CPL behind my license, so an officer will likely see it as I take out my license. Twice now, I’ve been asked if I was carrying, then given a verbal warning & told to drive careful & have a nice day.

The good ‘ol IAFF (International Association of Firefighters)sticker works great too Jeff. 🙂

This has happened to me twice, the last time in May.
I think that while the cops are more willing to let you off because they realize that you’re one of the “good guys” if you have a CCW permit, they also realize it will be a lot easier in terms of paperwork and hassle if they just give you verbal warning and let you go.

Texas law requires you to present your CHL with your driver’s licence. I’ve heard stories all the way from release no ticket to gun moved from inside the car to unloaded on the hood while the ticket was written.
Personal observation: I think I drive more within the law since I got my CHL than I did before. I know I’ve slowed down most of the time.

In the two years since I got my CCW I’ve been stopped twice because the tags on car were out of date. Apparently, if you give the Arizona Dept. of Transportation your email address, they now longer mail any notices to you of such things. Both times I informed the policeman that I had a CCW and that I have a loaded firearm on me. One cops response was “Ok, ust leave it in it’s holster”. I said “I will if you will”, which got a laugh. 🙂
Both times when I was pulled over, the cop let me off with a warning. I think it does make a difference.

I don’t volunteer any information at a traffic stop that is not required by law and/or is not specifically requested by the officer. In GA, one is not required to tell the cops one is armed. So I won’t. Unless he’s getting me out of the car for some reason and will find it anyway, I just don’t mention it. For stupid questions like “Where you headed tonight?” my answer is “None of your business”, because it’s not…just like the gun on my belt.
The last time I was pulled over, it went as smoothly as one could hope. No BS, no fishing expeditions and he even gave me a break on the speed he wrote the ticket for. I didn’t mention that I was armed and I fail to see how doing so could have made things any easier for either of us.
If I’m in a state that requires disclosure, I’ll do it (probably).

This has worked for me three times.

This happened to me once. But now that we’re talking about it, anti-gun police chiefs will send out memos telling their officers to give CCW holders tickets. Heh

I posed the “what do you think of citizen CCW holders” question to a LEO I was hunting with in Texas. He laughed and responded, “As far as we’re concerned, your CCW is a Certified Good Guy card. City cops don’t always understand it, but out here we know that when the plate comes back as a CCW, we’re not gonna find drugs or paraphernalia, we’re almost never gonna smell alcohol, we’re gonna have a polite conversation about the weather and the high school football team, warn you to back off the throttle a bit, and send you on your way.”

I have been stopped several times since getting my CCW because, although I have an FJ Cruiser instead of a corvette, I still “drive like I stole it.” Never gotten a ticket. In Oklahoma you have to tell the police you are carrying.
