I actually saw the interview and the prof made a good presentation, explaining that he explores different themes and genre in pop culture. He figures the popularity of some particular theme says something about the culture. Probably does.
He thought the zombie fixation had to do with facing our fears. I think it has to do with 1) just plain gross fun and 2) the training parallels between surviving zombies and real life adventures to be in the future Great Zombie Invasion to come–WTSHTF. If the prof were a shooter, he would know that.
When I roam the aisles of Wal-Mart late at night and see all of the vampire books aimed at teenagers, now that baffles me. Not sure what that says but I am pretty sure it isn’t wholesome. Like killing zombies.
Too nice to write–I’m going shooting. come on out if you like.
