As the owner of a Kalashnikov pattern rifle (and two Saiga-12s), I was unaware that, besides magazines and ammo, there were any ‘must have’ accessories for the AK.
Well, that’s great as long as you’re firing right handed, but I guess it’s no different than the HK. What would really be a “must have” accessory is a slide lock on empty magazine.
A bolt hold open I could see, but this is just complexity for its own sake.
The turned up bolt handle on the Galil is just as useful and doesn’t add unnecessary parts. And can still be used to hammer on the bolt carrier if you want.
Sigh! People need to remember that Sgt. Kalashnikov deliberately designed the weapon to keep fumble-fingered Russian Conscripts mitts off the trigger if they needed to anything to the weapon other than shoot it. That’s why, even though he stole the M-1 Garand hammer mechanism, he did not use the in the trigger guard safety. Try running an AK with heavy gloves on, or better yet, think of a 19 year conscript from Leningrad pulling guard duty on some base in Siberia and his Sgt. comes up from behind him and surprises him and you’ll see what I mean. It’s hard to get an AD on an AK if you have to keep that Crowbar of a safety in the On position. This gismo is a perfect example of “if it ain’t broke…”, not than I’m a huge fan of the AK family. Now if anyone has a spare FN-FAL that is taking up too much room in the safe….
Interesting. One plus i could see is the ability to shave the existing operating mech off of the bolt carrier, and then get a full dust cover. less moving mass in the end, may make for better shooting but also may effect the harmonics and timing of the gun.
Would speed up the thing in FA, for those of you that have the cash to have one.
I usually charge my AK by cupping my left hand over the top and using the side of my index finger (braced by all the others) to charge it. Takes a little practice, but works pretty well. But for FAL-type users, I can see this being a big hit. I gotta admit, I’m a little tempted.

Well a buddy of mine SWEARS by the green laser on his Saiga 12. And the guy buying my WASR is putting a scope on it.
I like the feature where you can evidently turn them into money fairly quickly.

Ridiculous. It’s an AK, not a HK or FAL.

It’s a metal part right next to the barrel and hot gas tube. Wouldn’t want my hands there after the first magazine.
