Suppressed Enfield in 45ACP
Kevin scooped me. I had this in the queue to post about. These Enfield conversions are pretty cool.

In Long Island, some supposed gang bangers, who outnumbered a man initially by 5:1 and then, supposedly, 25:1, were acting like, well, gang bangers. They threatened the man despite him asking them to leave. The men then allegedly advanced and threatened to kill the man and his family and “his babies”. For the record, it is exactly at the point the family is threatened and they start advancing that I’m figuring lethal force is justified. Except the man fired at the ground. The police arrested him for reckless endangerment. Warning shots are never a good idea when it comes to the law.
Candles for men. Those are pretty cool. Be cooler if they smelled like Hoppes #9.

Haslam and the other guy are looking to get support from gun owners. Haslam joined the NRA after some one pointed out he was the member of an anti-gun group. Even Unnamed Democrat joins in on calling Haslam weak on gun rights.
John Harris of TFA says they probably won’t endorse anyone.
And for about the third time I can recall, the press mentions Haslam’s membership in the anti-gun Mayors Against Guns:
Haslam has said that he joined the Bloomberg group to help keep guns out of the hands of criminals, but that the he left after he determined the group was going “in a different direction.”
Ronnie Barrett, owner of the Barrett Firearms Manufacturing plant in Murfreesboro that Haslam visited Thursday, said in a phone interview that he can look beyond his former membership in the group.
“As soon as Haslam realized what it was all about he got out of it and told them to hit the road,” Barrett said. “That’s all in the past, he’s clarified that and has distanced himself from it.”
While the distancing himself from it is true, the part about him doing it quickly is not. He joined in 2006. Started distancing himself in January 2009. And he quit the group in March 2009. And I know several folks mentioned it to him.

A list from Nancy. Though she loses points for calling Breda’s blog The Brenda Fallacies.
I’ll add a few to the list (and, no, this is not in any order. Just blogs I like to read and that have a lot of original content):
Tam: guns, witty commentary, common sense and snark.
Days of our Trailers: perfect for watching the various neurosis the various anti-gunners have.
National Shooting Sports Foundation Blog: Political news focusing on the firearms industry.
Everyday, No Days Off: A combo of good gun news and every internet meme you’ve ever seen. Entertaining.
Michael Bane: Fun watching the old school firearms industry trying to figure out this new fangled internet thingy. And Michael is trying to bridge the gap.
Joe Huffman: Gun rights and discussion. And he blows stuff up.
The Firearm Blog: Firearms not politics.
The War on Guns: David finds a lot of interesting things.
And that one you’re thinking of too. List more in comments.
I dunno. Looks to me like some HR lawyer probably wrote a policy and then the guys in marketing decided they don’t need bad publicity.
In Ohio, there’s a prohibition on taking guns into places where alcohol is served. The police can do it because they are better trained. Really? Trained to drink and pack?
Which they clearly don’t understand.
Says the unsigned editorial:
ONLY ABOUT 10 percent of the nation’s 100,000 licensed gun dealers are audited each year by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The ATF cannot fine wayward dealers; its only tool at the moment involves revoking a miscreant’s license. And that happens only about 100 times annually.
And those miscreants are usually guilty of such hideous violations as writing a Y instead of Yes.
They’re not a fan of the first two amendments. Alan Gottleib says:
All I can do is pray that all the publicity will make them want to decide to take down the ads — so we can sue!
“Tactical” has entered my personal list of words I reserve for “new and improved,” or “survival.” May once have had an objective meaning, but now they’re just marketing.
Tactical used to mean black and expensive.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
