Widener’s Explosion Update
No one was hurt. And the folks at Widener’s say it wasn’t them.
Look at that picture. Don’t those armed black men scare you?!
In Philly, the police are disarming black men who lawfully carry firearms:
In the last two years, Philadelphia police have confiscated guns from at least nine men – including four security guards – who were carrying them legally, and only one of the guns has been returned, according to interviews with the men.
Eight of the men said that they were detained by police – two for 18 hours each. Two were hospitalized for diabetic issues while in custody, one of whom was handcuffed to a bed. Charges were filed against three of the men, only to be withdrawn by the District Attorney’s Office.
They’re suing. And I hope they win.
Via Kopel, Maxim Lott discusses the Obama administration’s role in this:
The South Korean government, in an effort to raise money for its military, wants to sell nearly a million antique M1 rifles that were used by U.S. soldiers in the Korean War to gun collectors in America.
The Obama administration approved the sale of the American-made rifles last year. But it reversed course and banned the sale in March – a decision that went largely unnoticed at the time but that is now sparking opposition from gun rights advocates.
A State Department spokesman said the administration’s decision was based on concerns that the guns could fall into the wrong hands.
“The transfer of such a large number of weapons — 87,310 M1 Garands and 770,160 M1 Carbines — could potentially be exploited by individuals seeking firearms for illicit purposes,” the spokesman told FoxNews.com.
Lott’s piece is not consistent with what the ODCMP is telling people, which is that the guns are actually a lend/lease arrangement. And the .gov already owns them. This situation is interesting.
One of the people murdered by Palestinian Authority terrorists Tuesday used to carry a gun for self-defense, but Israeli authorities took away his permit in late 2009 – leaving him defenseless.
Trailer for The Walking Dead:
Looks more like a solution in search of a problem to me. But it is pretty cool.
Crazed right-wing gun man takes hostages . . . wait, what? I eagerly await the press doing some in depth investigative reporting into the rise of eco-terrorists.
Also, if you think we need to rid the world of humans, just point the gun at yourself. It’s easier for everyone.
Suppressed 44 Deagle with a suppressor and EOTech. And why not.
Cool lower (note: link is SFW but any link from there may not be)
A question:
What’s cooler: Guns disguised as ordinary objects or everyday items that look like guns?
Things that realistically look like guns are kinda stupid and can get you into serious trouble.

Firefighters are on the scene of an apparent ammunition storage facility explosion near Indian Ridge Road and Locust Lane.
Johnson City, Jonesborough and volunteer firefighters were called to at Widener’s Reloading & Shooting Supply Inc. in the area of West Market Street and Indian Ridge Road just after 10 a.m.
Traffic is reportedly being diverted from the area because ammunition is cooking off and shooting across West Market Street.

. . . a server has filed a TOSHA complaint that argues it’s unsafe for bars not to post 1359 signage, because “an employer has a duty to protect and safeguard employees against recognized hazards to human health, safety and life.”
And bonus:
According to the complaint, the server has seen handguns carried into the restaurant and patrons forcefully ejected from the property.
And no shoot outs?

The Second Amendment Foundation (the fine organization responsible for the McDonald case) is holding their Gun Rights Policy Conference this month in San Francisco. Their advertising campaign is making a splash on San Fran streets.
Side rant: I’m sure all those people who righteously boycotted the NRA convention in Charlotte because of NC law prohibiting carry at the convention center will just as righteously come down on SAF for having their shindig in one of the most anti-gun cities in the US. Right?
Blood in the streets, fathers killing other fathers at little league games. Wait, none of those doom and gloom predictions happened.
The Open Carry Ban that didn’t pass has now passed the senate. Off to the governor. A part of me wants it to pass so the law can be challenged.
ETA: Or maybe not. The press has released a couple of stories about it that don’t seem consistent. Stay tuned.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
