Bump firing revolver

Double taps with the S&W. Shot a AE this weekend and I don’t imagine a double tap would be that pleasant. Also, the angle of the gun when that second round went off is cause for concern.

Crimson Trace gets contract

Cool: CTC Defense, a division of Crimson Trace Corporation, has been selected by the Crane Division of Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC Crane) to supply the versatile LGD-645 Laserguard infrared laser sighting system for the Heckler and Koch HK45C handgun carried by members of Naval Special Warfare.

Once more, with feeling

The Mexican gun canard is in full swing again. It’s like there’s a narrative or something. And the inadequacy of U.S. efforts to stop the illegal trafficking? Sounds to me like the inadequacy is from the folks who keep letting the guns get in the country. You know what would stop that? Some sort of border control.

Lead Ban

An idiotorial at the NYT about the EPA lead ban:

At the end of August, the Environmental Protection Agency turned down a petition to ban lead from the manufacture of hunting ammunition. According to the agency, it lacked the legal authority to regulate lead in that form.

But that conclusion is legally dubious and it was a sudden and premature about-face for the agency, which had planned a two-month public comment period on the subject. And the turnaround came after the National Rifle Association asked the E.P.A. to reject the petition. The N.R.A. said this was just a backhanded attempt to impose gun control.

When I link to a quiz or poll, I’m pretty well aware that most of them are bullshit. But sometimes, they amuse me.

Gun Porn

Some guy who’s famous on the internet for taking gun pics came by with toys. Like this suppressed 22 AR.

Obviously, they need separate restrooms and drinking fountains

Not even separate but equal:

Gun-toting participants at the upcoming open firearms carry picnic will have to disarm themselves before using the bathrooms in West Baraboo’s Haskins Park, village officials heard Thursday.

The event’s organizer is cooperating with the legal requirement and village officials don’t expect any problems or disturbances.

During the village board’s regular meeting attorney, Mark Steichen noted both the village ordinances and state law prohibit the carrying of firearms in public buildings. When that law is applied to the Sept. 25 picnic organized by advocates of the right to carry unconcealed firearms in public, the park’s restrooms are public buildings where open carry is prohibited, though the open-sided picnic pavilion is not, he said.

Privacy

MyFox8:

North Carolina sheriffs want access to state computer records that identify people with prescriptions for certain drugs, an idea that patient advocates oppose.

The state sheriff’s association proposed the idea Tuesday to a legislative health care committee, The News & Observer of Raleigh reported. The sheriffs said they want access to state computer records identifying anyone with prescriptions for powerful painkillers and other controlled substances.

“We can better go after those who are abusing the system,” said Lee County Sheriff Tracy Carter.

What could possibly go wrong?

I see what you did there

Heh.

Predators

The myth of man the killer. A must read.

Not sure I agree that we’re not killers because of biology. We have sharp teeth and forward facing eyes. So we’re not grass-eaters. But, yeah, it seems counterintuitive for us to kill one another.

Burning flags

You’ve not even burned our holy book yet. But we’re going to go ahead and burn your flag and chant death to Christians:

Elsewhere, hundreds of angry Afghans burned an American flag and chanted “Death to the Christians” to protest the planned burning of Islam’s holiest text.

From this article on the FBI visiting the pastor in Florida.

Book burning

Burning holy books? I anxiously await the condemnation.
