Apparently, this is the big, new thing. Jon Stewart just had a clip awhile back where a union organizer had paid a guy to protest Wal-Mart for their anti-union policies. The guy was hired from a temp agency, making less for protesting (and with fewer benefits) than the “near-minumium wage” employees whose plight he was protesting. Later in the clip, he stated that his hours had been cut because one of the union organizers had gone on vacation.
Also, I recall a clip back during the campaign where the Martha Coakley campaign had apparently paid SEIU members $50 to protest in front of a Scott Brown rally in MA. One SEIU member said, on tape, that he was voting for Brown, But he, “just need(ed) the money”.
