Hope and change
I’m pretty sure if a white, GOP adviser referred to being gay as a lifestyle choice, there would be a lot of protesting and taking to the streets. Very colorful protesting, of course.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

She’s had to apologize. Sheesh, what a silly pack of nonsense. It’s hilarious to see the politically correct choked by their own political correctness but its still silly nonsense.

Being Gay(a) is not a lifestyle choice, just as Being Hetereosexual(a) is not, just as Being Asexual(a) is not.
Being Gay(b) is, just as Being Heterosexual(b) is, just as Being Celibate(b) is.
Where (a) refers to innate sexual attraction and (b) refers to actual sexual activity.
Nobody gets to choose their (a), everyone chooses their (b). (a) has a very strong influence on which (b) they’re going to choose, but does not control it.

I guess a broken clock is right at least twice a day.

GOPers routinely say even worse stuff than that. Nobody protests or takes to the streets every time some conservative says that shit.
What does happen is that gay groups and lefty bloggers and such complain loudly. And the same people who would complain when a GOPer said it are complaing about this.

Sigivald, I think the jury is still out on sexual orientation being outside the realm of choice, but there surely is strong evidence to suggest that genetic, environmental and possibly even cultural factors create a strong tendency one way or another. Strong enough in some that it would be unreasonable to consider that it was a choice. In others, it’s a bit more elective (at least from my perspective with a former girlfriend of seemingly variable orientation. I’ll just say that she might still have some stake in Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell being overturned by a judge.)
Now the Gay-capital-G Lifestyle-capital-L(tm) is certainly a choice. Making that choice is the difference between the person that is homosexual but otherwise an normal, unobtrusive member of society, and those for whom their sexual identity is the biggest thing about them and you can’t help but knowing about it because they won’t let you ignore it. They’re like the fighter pilots of sexual identity: you know you have one at your party because they tell you. It’s the difference between Larry, the accountant that happens to be gay and Alphonse, the Fabulous Gay Guy that happens to be an accountant.

Sounds like this could apply to serial killers too….

Yup. And we hear about it all the time. Their hate and intolerance.

Yes, we hear about it from gay groups and lefty bloggers, not from massive street protests—that’s all I’m saying. Nobody marches when a Republican calls homosexuality a lifestyle choice, so don’t expect anyone to march for this.
Your implication was that a white GOP advisor couldn’t get away with such a remark without criticism, but a Democrat of color gets a free pass—but that simply is not true. The same people who would criticize the Repub are criticizing the Dem.
