This unnamed blogger would like to tell those unnamed Democrats to hang it in their ass!
*You can quote me on that!

Commercial Squeal is running something similar. I’m having fun in comments.

Haslam bullied by the NRA?
I thought the NRA declined to endorse a candidate in the race (including the beer boy).
How exactly is the NRA bullying Haslam if it’s not giving money (which he clearly doesn’t need) to his campaign or to his opponent?

Unnamed Democrat sure did spend a lot of time trying to convince the same group that Haslam spoke with that he was way, way better on guns than Haslam.
He was laughed out of the room, quite literally.

McWherter has been running ads on WTN 99.7 FM attacking Haslam for his former anti-gun association with Mayors Against Illegal Guns. So now he is saying he is irresponsible because he said would sign a bill that is directly pursuant to our enumerated right to carry arms for self-defense (Article I, Section 26, Tennessee State Constitution)
The conclusion is that McWherter opposes that part of the Declaration of Rights in the State Constitution.
Also, if such is irrepsonsible, wouldn’t it be evident in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Virginia? The first two are free carry states whereas AZ and VA allow open carry without a permit.
On the issue of the basic human right of armed self-defense, the opposition always defaults to prejudice and bigotry.

Didn’t Arizona go Vermont Carry this year?

Maybe by “gun lobby” he really meant “those citizens who have spoken up for the change”?

rickn8or,
I think Arizona’s new law allows open carry without a permit. As I understand it, Vermont has no permit law, that is free carry, open or concealed, as does Alaska. I think Virginia has had a similar law to AZ,that is, you can open carry without a permit.

Hi Ron W,
Rickn8or is right about recent AZ legislation. Permitless open and concealed carry are now legal. Optional permits are available to provide reciprocity with other states, and are necessary to legally carry (concealed only) in alcohol-serving businesses (unless posted “no firearms” by business).
Take care,
Eric

Eric F in Tucson,
Thanks for the correction. AZ’s law is even better than I thought.
I hope we can get that in Tennessee which would be directly pursuant to Article I, Section 26 of our State Constitution. Our “shall issue” permit (concealed or open) law is unconstitutional and thus illegal in that a government permit is required to exercise an enumerated right!

Best wishes for success in TN Ron; I’ve read the cause seems to be gaining traction there lately.
We have a volunteer political activist organization, called AzCDL, lobbying at the AZ state government level which has been a huge help in pushing forward pro-individual rights legislation these past few years.
During the debate before the law passed, it was disconcerting to see public opposition from some I thought should have been on “our side,” e.g. permit class providers, maybe anticipating loss of revenue.

Eric F in Tuscon,
Thanks.
A similarly effective organization here in TN, of which I am a member, is Tennessee Firearms Association. It was in response to questioning before a meeting of TFA, that Gov candidate Haslam pledged to sign a bill for no permit carry if the TN legislature passed it.
