Quote of the Day
Japete is at it once again, confusing “things that happen” with “being legal”
You mean speeding is legal? Sweet.

You mean speeding is legal? Sweet.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

You mean we can just file Motions to Dismiss if a transaction occurs despite it being illegal?
No one cocaine dealing cases!!!
Hooray for crack and I’m not lying!

You can get weed in just about any high school in the U.S. I guess that means they legalized marijuana while I wasn’t paying attention.

What I get from her statement is that sales by private individuals to other private individuals may be resulting in sales to felons since there is no requirement for background checks in private sales so there is no instance of violation of federal law since the purchaser does not know the buyer is a “known felon”. So both Japete and Robb are correct in limited contexts.

As I said over at Robb’s:
Saying that purchasing of guns by felons is legal because there are no background checks on private transactions is like saying that drunk driving is legal because (most) cars don’t have breathalizer ignition locks.

The part I like the best is how I explained over and over again what the definition of a private seller is and that loudmouthed hoplophobe either doesn’t understand or is willfully ignoring reason.

RC, you are 100% incorrect.
If I turn onto a road, kick it up to 70mph, and get pulled over because the speed limit is 55, does the fact that I didn’t see any speed signs mean I’m getting out of the ticket?
Second, you’re trying to tell me the felon doesn’t know he’s a felon? That he goes to buy a gun at a gun show and just happens to forget that little point?
It’s illegal for a felon to purchase a handgun. Period. Be it at a gun show, someone’s front porch, or in the parking lot of Denny’s.

“That he goes to buy a gun at a gun show and just happens to forget that little point?”
Sure, that does happen all the time . . . at least my clients tell me so.

She’s already deleted my comment.Doesn’t seem to like it too much when someone calls her on stuff.

Robb, you pretty much sum up what I posted at her site.
Aside from asking her why she continues to distort the truth.
