Familiar Tale

Some off-kilter, easily-influenced person is convinced to engage in some sort of violent action by federal agents. Person sort of acts on it and the feds swoop in and arrest the poor schmuck who probably never would have come up with that idea on his own. The .gov calls it a success. A decade or so back, it was happening to militia wannabes. Now, it’s happening to Jihadi wannabes.

Officials stressed that the public was never in danger.

If the public was in no danger, why did they arrest him? Stupid statement or stupid action. (or both)

The real problem is it is very difficult for us to weigh if this guy was really dangerous. They don’t give out much info on what he really did and at what level. Some of the trial documents I’ve read on other cases make me wonder why they spent so much energy on the person on trial. I’m betting more than a few of these guys would remain harmless without the .gov help. Unfortunately, the gov has decided that anything with the least threat level with respect to terrorists has to be stomped on as hard as possible.

Never caught the Christmas Airline Bomber until he commenced action, never caught the Times Square Bomber until he commenced action, never caught the Ft. Hood Shooter until he commenced action, yet they talk about how they stop all the Wannnabes with their Sting Ops. Why don’t they just quit with their Dog and Pony Shows and get the real Terrorists before thousands more get killed in a 9/11 Sequel?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
