I am debating as to whether to non-renew my NRA membership next year.
Its tacit support for people who made the confirmation of Sonya Sotomayor and Elena Kagan possible disgusts me.
This kind of nonsense (agreeing to either endorse Reid if possible or, if not, to stay out of the race altogether, in exchange for exempting the NRA from the DISCLOSE Act) would never happen if Charlton Heston still had a role in the NRA’s leadership.
Heston was a man of impeccable character.
LaPierre, on the other hand, is a man of political expedience and cutting deals with the devil (like the GOP during the Bush years).
NRA ballots will be in every voting members magazine next spring. Those who do not like the way the NRA is run are perfectly welcome to change it.
A young man named Knox would make a really good choice, and there are many others, as well.
But don’t give up. You don’t remember how it was when we had no NRA because the Association was an Army/Guard organization that refused to voice an opinion on civilian matters.
Dump the NRA. When their dollars dry up and they have to actually pay some attention to the political reality of those they endorse, maybe a new NRA, one with a WHOLE political philosophy, will rise from the ashes.
I’ve belonged to two clubs which require NRA membership. I have told both of them they can change this rule or do without my membership money. Yes, that means I will have to pay for range time by the hour, but I’d rather do that than give a dime to the impotent potentates of the NRA.
What is this dumping on the NRA all about? They are a single-issue organization, not a “whole political philosophy” organization – I think that’s what makes them effective.
You mentioned that Schumer may become majority leader if Reid goes down. I think that’s fine. It gives the right even more to run against two years from now. So Schumer may be the best thing that could happen from this election.

This is a very well-written article.

Why are we constantly told to compromise?

Who needs facts when you have well written fantasies instead? Lie and fantasies are not just for the Brady Bunch any more.

Oh God I miss Neil Knox. At least his sons are keeping up the good fight.

By the way…semi-off topic.

Just to let you know, that was a spam blog with stolen content. I found the original post somewhere else – a GOP supporter – from the summer.
