Not to bash GLOCKs, but this type of Negligent Discharge would likely not have happened with other types of firearms. Say ones with real safety levers and/or grip safeties.
And the fact remains that no amount of engineering will overcome stupidity 100% o the time.
I was bellied up to a gun case in a shop and overheard a guy who was buying an XD express concern that his gun didn’t have a manual safety. When he mentioned about carrying the gun in condition 3 I stepped in. Told him #1 condition 3 was overall stupid and unnecessary, #2 Said gun he was looking at was a fine gun and just as safe as any. #3. Mentioned I had a revolver in my pocket that had no manual safety and only seemed to go boom when I want it too. #4. That no mechanical device will EVER protect somebody from bad gun handling.
Learn to shoot safely, as the only safety worth a damn is between your ears.
Can’t agree more with Weer’d Beard. Got two glocks, Kahr PM9 and P3AT and none of them have a manual safety. Don’t need any. Never could find a pocket holster that worked for me. The only thing that goes in the pocket with the PM9 or P3AT is maybe a little lint.

Or at the very least put your money in the pocket that does not have a pistol in it.

YMMV

Mr. B nails it…

I agree with Mr B, but even with a GLOCK, you would still have to consciously squeeze it. It’s not like GLOCKS have a hair-trigger.
