Counterpoint: the cartridge name is so incredibly Mall Ninjary that even UTG would be ashamed to be associated with it. If it had some boring name that sounded like it came out of the hills of Pennsylvania, like .458 Reading, it’d be fine, but I would feel obligated to simply insist that anyone who discovered me using that cartridge should mock me without mercy or reprieve.
Isn’t an AR in what amounts to a .45-70 a little backwards? As in, all the way back to the nineteenth century? Heavy bullets, so less ammo can be carried. Rainbow trajectory that reduces hit probability. Heavy recoil that induces flinch. Slower rate of fire and follow up shots. I thought we had gotten away from all those drawbacks.
If you want close range performance, and don’t mind the above issues, why not just go with 12 gauge slugs or buckshot? Oh, that’s right; the military is already doing that, aren’t they?

1. Same manual of arms as AR15 with performance similar to 12ga sabot slugs. Faster to reload than a shotgun.
2. Much greater stopping power, good for bear defense and brush hunting.
3. With m.v. of 2200fps for lighter bullets, not all that steep of a trajectory.
