The anti-gun activists are pro-tyranny and, for the most part, they are content to haved the hired guns do the criminal violence:

Note: There is nothing wrong with violence when it is done in self-defense against criminals and tyrants.
Yup. I call it the Ahenobarbic Fallacy, after Nero. In Suetonius, Nero was reported to be amazed that anybody ever did anything for an honorable reason. It was said that when he was judging you in court you could always get off if you claimed to have done the deed for a depraved reason. That made him think you were being honest, admitting that you were really like him.
