ATF Director
Obama picked someone from Chicago:
Nearly two years into his term, President Obama on Monday finally chose a director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Mr. Obama will submit the name of Andrew Taver, the special agent in charge of the bureau’s Chicago field division, to the Senate for consideration, the White House said.
Speculation there will be a confirmation fight. I hope so. We don’t need a guy from Chicago running an agency that deals with guns. We need Cletus and Bubba who like to blow stuff up.

This is a watershed moment in the Obama administration. The last thing they wanted during the first two years was to get the rest of their agenda bogged down with a BATFU confirmation fight. He’s got nothing to lose now.
While Obama has done his best at keeping a low profile while he’s been the nation’s number one salesperson for evil black rifles, now he’s telling everyone that the gloves are off, and the thumbscrews for the law-abiding gun owners are about to be twisted.

Well it is the Chicago way….

Thumb screws are indiscriminate. They work just as well on the batfu as they do on law abiding citizens…

Lovely career path; chicago–new orleans–san fransisco–DC–chicago. Has he ever worked in a place that had moderate to permissive gun laws?

I would have said we need a guy who spent his formative years studying in an Indonesian madrasa.

T-r-a-v-e-r. The NY Times botched the number one fact about a person: His last name!!!!!
I cannot stand the MSM.

To be honest? Whatever. The only real harm Taver/Traver can do is to his boss’s job security. Good luck convincing non-urban voters that Democrats have moved past the pang in their loins for gun control, unless this guy takes vows of poverty, chastity, and silence.

This is certainly bad news though it certainly does not come as a surprise given Obama’s penchant for squashing liberty. This sort of thing has come to be expected from such a man. Incorporation of the Second Amendment has arrived just in time. Today we are also in an information age where the American people are well informed, because of an alternative media, and they aren’t going to take it anymore.

As a victim of prostate cancer, and a retro-pubic surgery, I figure the vow of chasity not needed for him. The problem is he will make up for his inadequacies by trying to share his pain with the rest of us.
Really. Think about the Byzantines who put eunuchs in charge of nearly everything. Their last great general, Bellisarius, rather than being retired, was blinded, and made a beggar, for the sins of having saved the empire many times. What kind of wedding tackle is the guy packing who thinks a 5.56 x 45mm rifle is heavy caliber?

I nominate me for the job. I’m not doing anything much at the moment.

Travers is worse than he sounds. He’s on record as opposing and wanting to ban “assault weapons.” He has been complicit with anti-gun advocates and especially the Joyce Foundation. The anti-gun organization that Obama was a chairman of. The NRA has just called for the president to withdraw Traver’s appointment.
