That’s what he gets for graduating from the Wile E. Coyote School of Engineering. Anyone who thinks a gun on a tripwire is a good idea deserves to be shot.
And just for the record, boobytraps like that are illegal in pretty much all states. You can generally rest assured that if Texas bans it, it’s banned everywhere.
Scratch a bit deeper, and you’ll find that a “beekeeper” has no reason to have to do to those lengths to protect his honey.
We have lots of these booby traps showing up in Oregon now, and just about all of them are put up by mary jane farmers, not beekeepers, although several of the ganja hortis have said they also keep bees…

Texas bans open carry of handguns, so Texas does have its little idiocies in banning stuff.
That said, this was a negligent discharge, not an accident. I’d say the trap worked exactly as planned, designed, and executed.
