I got an M&P compact so that I could carry something light, that held plenty of ammo, and packed more punch than my dinky .380 Ruger. It’s OK, but it ain’t no 1911. The back end of the slide, where the hammer would be on a .45 auto, is really bulky, and sticks out like a tumor. The 1911 doesn’t have this problem when carried.
Solved the problem buy getting a Springfield EMP. Chucked the guts and installed all Ed Brown components and a 10-8 trigger, and voila! A lightweight compact that carries well. Doesn’t hold a lot of ammo though, but it did come with 3 magazines.
