Thanks
For all the comments on the Smith and Wesson M&P9. I handled one at the gun show and really liked how it felt. I need to go shoot one. And it looks like there are quite a few options. I hope there is one that doesn’t have all the dumb stuff like manual safeties and magazine disconnect safeties.

There is. Most of the 9mm models don’t have a manual safety, and it’s not too much harder to avoid the magazine disconnect.

I’ve got an M&P 40 compact, all it has is a trigger safety, similar to a Glock. Want to use it for my carry gun when I get home.

I got mine in MASS and I have only the trigger safety and no mag disconnect so you should be able to find one easy in a free state. . .

I have an M&P9 Pro…have had it for several months now. Have about 1200rnds +/-100 through it. Only issue so far was a single stove pipe. I love it.

I have M&P9 and M&P9c, will bring both for you to try when in Knoxville next. They have been reliable, accurate and mild in recoil.

You can get a model without the mag safety but with a gold warning on the slide that says “shoots without a mag!” or remove the mag safety easily at home. The mag safety issue pretty much isn’t one.

You cant go wrong with an M&P…. I have never heard anything but good about them…. However, my extreme Glock bias will not let me even read these post without commenting about the extreme love I have for my Glock 26
;D

Love my M&P9C and it has none of that goofy crap. Makes it easy to use “cocked and locked” as my primary carry piece.

Your best bet is to get one with a mag safety and remove it, which is very easy; instructions here:

The ones that come without a mag safety have a ridiculous “Caution: capable of firing with magazine removed” etching in the slide, filled in with white paint.

Hi Uncle
I have an M&P 9C. If you want to try one, you’re welcome to try mine.

Went to the gun-shop yesterday and checked one out – was rather amazed at the light weight of it. Way lighter than my Sig P220 – and that was the full-sized .45 version. Can’t imagine what the compact would weigh.
