Remember, if you try to use a gun in self-defense
Criminals will just take it from you and use it against you:
Metro police said a pizza delivery driver shot and killed a man who attempted to rob him Friday night.

Sure it worked this one time. Maybe the pizza guy got lucky, maybe the robber was totally inept, who knows?
I say we try it about ten thousand times, and then see how often it works!

I used to work at Jet’s on the West End by Vandy and there was no official policy about carrying. One of the assistant managers told me he didn’t care if I did-I suppose that might change now. The franchise owner lives in Brentwood and it seems like an unusual place to get robbed although I’m not familiar with with that particular location. One problem I had with Jet’s is they would deliver almost anywhere after dark. Some of my deliveries told me I was crazy for coming there.

This perp rightly experienced “a catastrophic failure in victim selection”…good work my fellow armed citizen!
“The act of a private citizen in striking down a criminal, who, by raising himself above the law, has placed himself beyond the reach of legal punishment or control, has been accounted by whole nations, and by some of the best and wisest men, not a crime, but an act of exalted virtue;…” –John Stuart Mill

mikee,
Everyone should have the choice to see if it works….rather than have some employer or worse, some politician, deny us our basic human right to choose armed self-defense.
We do know that depending soley on the “tender mercies” of an armed robber, rapist, murder, etc. often doesn’t work!!

“[T]he Arbors of Brentwood apartment complex on Brentwood Terrace”
Despite the names, this didn’t happen in Brentwood. It happened in Antioch. For the non-locals, Brentwood is an affluent part of town, and Antioch is MS-13 territory.
Apartment complexes in the area use tricks like that to make people think they’ll be safe there. I used to live about a mile from this place, until there was a triple-homicide in my building. About three weeks before that, a guy in a FuBu jacket tried to gain entry to my apartment by saying he was with the gas company and that I would be arrested if I didn’t open the door (I did, with a Ruger P90 in hand. Turns out he “didn’t want no trouble, man” and was “only playing a joke”).
So yeah, brave guy for delivering in the dark. Smart for carrying.
