I remember the Iran/Iraq war, where I could happily wish that both sides would lose. This sounds like another one.

Heh, it’s even more like the 70’s. Institutional Memory once established is hard to break – they do what they’re good at and stick with it and don’t go outside the box much because that’s how prosecutors like to win.
The outside the box thinkers move to the CIA and stuff where they get to think double-triple thoughts and tie their brains in knots.
