Perhaps they’ve not paid attention to the national sentiment toward TSA

Homeland Security to team up with Wal-Mart to watch and tattle on you. Because you look like you might be up to something.

Another reason to use FedEx: UPS now requires photo ID to ship packages.

But terrorists that can get their hands on a dirty bomb would never be able to get a fake ID that is of high enough quality to get past the highly trained screaners of UPS…. just more stupid reactive measures.

Fed ex will appreciate your business…

Fed Ex and the rest of the shippers will soon join UPS just to cover themselves when some shyster files a lawsuit claiming “they should have known that that the package they accepted might contain a bomb, Your Honor, so on behalf of my client, we’re asking a $100 million dollars in damages”. Funny thing is, when I was at my local Post Office yesterday, packages were being taken w/o any ID requirement at all, and I know my little Post Office doesn’t have any scanning technology whatsoever in the building. Wonder if Al-Queda has figured it out yet. By the way, how’s that search for the Anthrax Letter Sender going?

Until all mail boxes are locked with unpickable locks, and all front doors are secured against blast, biologicals, chemicals, and radiation, the delivery service is quite unnecessary. A bad guy can just put the letter bomb in the mailbox of the victim, or the Christmas gift-wrapped package of easily unsealed Sarin on the front porch.

As an employee of UPS and Libertarian I don’t hate the new rules, UPS-run centers have required ID since I believe 2003 to ship packages. The franchise locations that hire high school kids and any ‘ole Joe, paying minimum wage … were not required until now. It’s not big brother looking down. It’s no different than having to show ID when buying cigarettes or alcohol. It’s a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.

And if someone does yell “big brother” on this… ask yourself if you’re paying cash, check, or credit. Cause the Feds are already monitoring your credit and checking activity.

If your background is absolutely squeaky clean that’s even more reason to keep an eye on you.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
