A right delayed
is a right denied. This time, in Chicago:
Gun owners: Permit process not exactly as fast as a speeding bullet
As Chicago’s post-ban handgun registration system gets phased in, critics complain it is tedious and costly
Then it’s working like the city planned, I would guess. More:
Diaz, who wanted a gun for home protection and target shooting, said he spent months trudging through the process to get his permit.
After applying for a state firearm owner’s identification card in June, he waited a month to receive it. He next spent several weeks looking for a certified instructor and a range where he could take the mandated firearms training course. He settled on a Dundee range about 35 miles from his home, but he waited several more weeks for an open class. Finally, after shelling out $100, he received his gun permit in September.

Entrenched empowered thugs give ground grudgingly. They don’t care what the law is.

That sounds similar to the NY state permit process. I was at the sheriff a couple weeks ago getting a gun I bought added to my permit (I have to wait 1-3 months for the judge to sign the “coupon”) before I can pick up the gun that is already paid for.
While I was there, a new applicant was turning in his lengthy application. The sheriff said to him there’s a six month wait before he’ll hear back from them. Several years ago it took me two months to get my application approved and I thought that was excessive.

You should live in Niagara County Kdawg, only place where you have do the coupon process after you take the gun home. Least hostile county in NY, I tells you.

Indiana. Lifetime CCW. I can go buy anything and carry it out that day. With thousands of rounds. It’s automatically on my license. I’m carrying it, I have a carry license. Why can’t you? Some of us have a lot of work to do. I’ll help you if I can.

The government should be completely out of the gun sales and ownership business.

Only a month for a FOID, eh?
Well, it’s good to hear the State Police are bringing the application turn-around time down to legally mandated levels again.
I know several people that have waited longer and needed a call to their state reps to give the ISP a kick in the pants.
I had some high hopes for Brady, but we re-elected that bum, Quinn.
