Secrets and hypocrisy

That’s rich, right there. Via Billy.

    Hah

I’d leave a comment over there at Billy’s arguing the relevancy of the point except…

  2. Brian Says:

    I dunno…

maybe being held in solitary confinement during a bail hearing over a broken rubber has led him to conclude that he doesn’t want his friend’s house trashed by lookie-loos or malevolents.

  3. Brian Says:

To elaborate, when politicians call for your murder (re: incitement) perhaps it’s best to keep your friends from becoming collateral damage.

  4. SPQR Says:

Brian, Assange had no concerns over the collateral damage of leaking documents with the names of people who had cooperated with the US in fighting terrorists.

  5. Standard Mischief Says:

As a media organization, Julian and WikiLeaks definitely have an agenda, but they’re now using a team of reporters to vet the leaks for collateral damage.

  6. Brian Says:

    SPQR is repeating a lie.

FACT: Wikileaks REPEATEDLY offerred the US Dept of Def and Dept of State the opportunity to review the documents at hand to scrub for the possibility of putting individuals in direct harm. The same offer had been made to other governments. They all refused the opportunity “to protect sources.” So who abandoned whom?

FACT: NONE of the Wikileaks cables from the State Dept have been published only by Wikileaks; ALL have been vetted by other media outlets (NYT, UK Guardian, Der Spiegel, etc.) If Wikileaks media editors are going to be targeted for assassination, then you damned well better be consistent and call for the death of American newspaper editors.

FACT: Who put anyone at risk? Wikileaks or the fedgov?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
