Why Brian Aitken Wasn’t Pardoned
From Radley Balko, who asked Aitken’s attorney Evan Nappen.
Anyone who argues that smoking isn’t bad for you is probably stupid or, at least, disingenuous. Everyone knows it’s bad for you. But the anti-smoking crowd is ridiculous in the lies they tell about smoking. People know smoking is bad for them but it’s not as bad for them as the zealots in the anti-smoking would have you believe. A tobacco policy analyst compiles the lies of the year about tobacco.
Heh: [folks on the WaPo editorial booard] love the idea. Love it! But yeah, it’s probably illegal.
Well, anti-gun folks tend to show disregard for the law when convenient. The National Shooting Sports Foundation responds:
NSSF continues to oppose multiple sales reporting of semi-automatic rifles. Such reporting requirements will actually make it more difficult for licensed retailers to help law enforcement as traffickers modify their illegal schemes to circumvent the reporting requirement.
Yo dawg, I heard you liked guns . . .
Taurus makes a polymer revolver
Something I don’t get: Scout rifle.
Said before I don’t expect Christie or any politician in New Jersey to stand up for gun rights. Bob Owens confirms my expectations.
Via Chris, comes a list. These lists always prove to me that those that write them don’t actually listen to metal. Alice in Chains is not metal.
In the Philippines, cops required to tape their gun barrel so they can tell if they fired guns in celebration of the new year.
The political class v. you. And that is the crux of the problem facing the country. The bureaucracy is running amok and political leaders either are incapable or unwilling to stop it and reign it in. And, suddenly, the bureaucrats and paper pushers make more than the private sector. Congress is useless and it’s a lucrative business to push around citizens and the private sector. These bureaucrats are the real power base. Period. And the political class needs to be de-privileged.
This isn’t going away anytime soon.
Guy who killed MA police officer was sentenced to three life sentences, yet still was walking the streets.
In a discussion of black market light bulbs, a commenter notes that no coal is required to power a Prius. Robb responds:
You are correct.
The electricity fairy shits 110 VAC.
Heh.
Black market light bulbs. Black market toilets. Using “off road” air intakes on cars. Popping flow restrictors off of shower heads. It’s like I woke up in some bad Soviet era novel.
Coal Creek Armory is looking for a General Manager.
I was in there yesterday about lunch time and that place was busy.
ATF has issued Ruling 2010-8 which will allow manufacturers to consolidate their records. Previously, ATF required both a record of manufacturing and of disposition (27 CFR 478.123).
While overall crime is down, police fatalities are up. Press says it’s due to cluster killings.
Some guy and gal, who’ve seen The Sopranos a few times too many, liked to use guns during their bedroom romps. And he negligently shot her and killed her. Now, I know people have all manner of sexual preferences or fantasies or whatever. But if you’re going to have some sort of rape fantasy involving a gun, use a fake gun for the fake rape.
Via Jennifer who says: don’t get your toys that go bang and toys you like to bang mixed up.
“bomb” that exploded prior to being loaded on a plane was a bunch of primers:
A man has been arrested after FBI and TSA officials said his luggage contained volatile gun parts, which caused his bag to explode Tuesday just before it was about to be loaded on a plane.
The unidentified 37-year-old man had 500 to 700 bullet primers in his luggage. Primers are considered the “spark plugs” of a bullet and ignites the gun powder, projecting it toward the intended target.
Officials originally said the exploding bag was caused by a hairspray aerosol can.
Doesn’t look intentional.
On Dec. 1, Gun City’s federal firearms license was revoked after years of regulatory violations, barring the store from buying, selling or repairing guns. The store had challenged the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ revocation, but a federal judge in October denied its appeal.
“Their license expired, or was revoked, effective at the end of November,” said Richard Gardiner, a Fairfax, Va., attorney who represented Gun City in its appeal. “They can sell ammunition still. They can run the range. They can sell clothing and scopes and any accessories.” Owner Cindy Arp could not be reached for comment on the store’s future.
Paperwork violations, it looks like. I wonder if the violations are the serious kind or the failing to dot i’s kind?
The pilot who took video of TSA failing and then was harassed by the feds for it has a website: Patriot Pilot.
Man who writes pro-gun letter to newspaper gets death threats.
The US government plans to step up security at hotels and malls. We’re gonna have DHS folks doing security at malls next?
Via JayG, who says they can’t let a crisis go to waste. And it would be a good way to kill off the retail industry.
The bureaucracy is in place and it needs to be stopped.
And this is pretty hysterical:
“The overall message is everything is objectively better than it was a year ago, particularly in the aviation environment. But we’re also looking at addressing other areas,” Napolitano said.
TSA has not prevented a single incident. How is it better?
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
