Failure

The coyotes are getting awful brave. Mostly because I’ve not shot one in a while. The past few weeks, I’ve heard their yips at night and, yesterday, the dogs were going nuts and I looked out to see a coyote traipsing through the field without a care in the world. In broad daylight. By the time I could retrieve a rifle, it was gone. I remedied that by putting the rifle in a more accessible place.

Today, the dogs were going nuts again. I grabbed the 10/22 and the magazine for it. Tried to pop the magazine in and it was a no go. The first two rounds were hanging out of the mag and the mag had lost its spring. Easily fixed with the turn of an allen wrench. But, still, a lost shot.

When you need it, it can fail.

Now, I have three magazines beside the rifle.

ATF and Multiple Long Gun Sales

NSSF responds. So does the NRA.

US Citizen’s online gun shop

More updates and lots of inventory.

Reid supporting Traver for ATF head?

So says the NFA owners association. We’ll see. Reid may have been more inclined not to do that if he had an NRA endorsement under his belt.

The bias is stupid

ABC’s Nightline looks at restaurant carry. They get substantially everything wrong. But the really funny bit is that they point out how drawing and firing from a holster is less accurate than taking slow aimed shots under ideal conditions.

TSA at work

Stealing your stuff and not going to jail for it:

A 37-year-old former Transportation Security Administration officer has been sentenced to three years’ probation for stealing laptop computers from passengers’ luggage at Philadelphia International Airport.

A look at home invasions

Interesting read on what the police tell us about home invasions.

In Cali

Trial court says second amendment protects nunchaku.

I had to laugh

SayUncle: More advanced reading than those high-class hoity-toity sites like The New Yorker and Harpers.

I guess I get points for making up words?

Undo

I spend a lot of time undoing things that are done because of federal regulations. You know, taking the flow restricter out of my shower heads; turning my hot water heater temperature higher than the recommended temps; putting real exhausts on my car; hoarding regular light bulbs. That sort of thing.

I’m not sure how to put more phosphates in my dish detergent though.

Obviously, compensating for the size of her penis

11 year old girl uses gun to defend home. It’s a good thing she was not subject to any of those laws restricting children’s access to firearms.

Something that should have died long ago

The caps lock key. Google’s new netbook doesn’t have one. Good.

Cool

This is pretty damn neat:

First amendment rights as probable cause

Officer says GeorgiaCarry.org bumper sticker on car is probable cause for search. And also cause for three officers to show as backup.

Mexican Drone Crashes in El Paso Backyard

Really. First, why does Mexico have aerial drones? Next, why are they buzzing Texas?

The future of gun control

A good read: I would posit that without prohibition, the gun control movement is nothing.

Hat Trick

Three robbers with guns try to hold up jewelry store. Move to tie up owner’s wife and who knows what after. Owner introduces the three robbers’ insides to the outside.

Obfuscation

A popular theme among anti-gunners is misuse of the phrase ‘semi-automatic’. Even when acknowledging what it means, they still have to mislead.

Security Theater

TSA fails to catch loaded gun in a man’s bag. Too busy harassing grandmothers and children with leg-braces, I guess.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

Brady Campaign Board Member Joan Peterson:

It’s just natural to want to shoot someone when you don’t agree with them or have a beef or you’re drunk and can’t quite think straight.

No wonder she wants you disarmed. She thinks you’re as crazy as she is.

Clueless

Kevin talks about people being clueless on the gun issue. This time, with fewer words and more charts and graphs.

How to make a secret book safe

Here. I started making one yesterday. I recommend letting the glue dry overnight. A few cuts:

From Stuff

When I started cutting mine, the glue came undone in spots so I had to re-glue it and stick it back in the vice where it’s still sitting:

The “Build it Yourself” loophole

DIY

You know what they’ve not talked about in a while?

The Mexican Gun Canard. The WaPo brings it in, poorly. The NYT parrots the same bogus numbers. And a proposal that FFLs report bulk rifle purchases.

Well, the election is over

And so ends the NAACP’s hunt for racists.

TSA Shaming

This is horrid. I think it is cause for worry.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
