A litany
Whenever I make fun of or link to something that says “your particular choice in gun may suck” everyone gets all butthurt. I get hatemail. And all of that. There is no perfect gun. If there was, we’d all have one and never buy another. Other than a back up perfect gun. But, like unicorns and Obama fiscal policy, it doesn’t exist. I carry a Glock. It’s trigger sucks, factory sights are cheap, and it has the ergonomics of a baseball bat. But I have a good reason to carry it. It works. Goes bang every time. And it’s easy to conceal.
I poke fun at 1911 reliability or say that the Taurus Judge is as useless as tits on a boar. But if that’s your thing, go for it. It’s all preference and what feels good to you.
Why are you listening to some guy on the internet anyway?

Why didn’t you mention the Lorcin! I’ve had one for 20 yrs and it has gone bang every time! I use it as a backup for my hi-point.

Now you are just passively/aggressively fanning the flames. ๐

Granted, it’s not a pistol round, but I love how there are many folks on the internet that will swear to you that a 30-30 won’t take down a deer.

Now that just made my day! ๐

With my co-blogger instigating the latest round of “that gun you like, we hate it”, I have to say that the one thing it shows is this – we are all interested enough in guns to talk the subject to death. Which is good – it’s fun to argue, even if nobody is going to really be convinced either way.
I still much prefer it to engaging with the anti-gunners. I’m very glad there are others who do such a great job at it, because I just get tired working my way through the cognitive dissonance.

A friend who didn’t own any guns asked me for advice on purchasing a handgun and an Ar15. He also asked a few other people he knew and some gun store owners. He got very confused because everyone gave him different recommendations and swore everyone else’s recommendations were worthless paperweights. I told him gun people were like truck people. There are ford, chevy, and dodge fans, and all will swear their chosen truck is best. But ultimately, they all will get the job done so just pick the one you like.

If you have a sow with 12 and you breed her to a boar with 14, some of her gilts will have 14. If these are kept for breeding, rather than selling for slaughter, they can provide for feeding more of their offspring. Ergo, not absolutely useless. :>)

heh. “.30-30 can;t take deer!” is one of my favorite stupid comments.
I think I was 25 or so before I realized that there were more than two realistic choices for a deer hunting gun — 12 gauge shotgun (I grew up in SE Virginia) or .30-30 lever action.
