Democrats and guns
Gun control not only does no practical good, it actively causes harm. It may be hard to show that it saves lives, but it’s easy to demonstrate that we’ve sacrificed a generation of progress on things like health care, women’s rights, immigration reform, income fairness, and climate change because we keep messing with people’s guns.
Well, those other issues mentioned are a smokescreen for something else or made up. But he’s willing to take trampling gun rights off the table. One at a time, I suppose.

What a vile statement! So their party’s attempts to infringe one right has led to failure of their political party’s ability to maintain momentum in infringing other rights, because those mean old pro-rights people keep stopping them over the gun rights.
His party’s policy on any one item in the list is reason to vote against him, and the entire party, and their aggregate position deserves them to be voted against in embarrassingly large numbers and overwhelming ratios.

Isn’t that the guy that reamed over at ARFCOM a few weeks ago?

Sorry Uncle that isn’t somebody who “get’s it”, that’s just another statist pig with slightly different priorities.

On a strictly statistical basis, it is almost trivial to demonstrate that restrictive gun laws cause people to kill people, while permissive gun laws drastically reduce both the homicide rate and the violent crime rate.
The problem is that you cannot get those whose political aspirations require the people be disarmed to pay attention to statistics. Or to reason.

I tell you what, I don’t think I would have ever been a Democrat if I had given it any thought at all, but when I was young, and didn’t give a shit either way, I was vehemently opposed to the D’s for one reason only: they wanted to make it impossible for me to buy a gun and it pissed me off. All the other stuff I came to later; Immigration, Abortion, Political Correctness, Taxes, none of that shit mattered to me, and some issues, like whether or not Homosexual Monogamy will be called “Civil Unions” or “Marriage” I couldn’t give two shits about, but I’m in the fight now, because one side wanted to take my guns, and I’m not down for that. They have made active political enemies out of people who otherwise would have been inclined to not give a fuck about politics at all. Big mistake.

What’s more, I think that the D’s fucking around with our civil rights in the 1990’s led directly towards the Tea Party movement we see now. The long odyssey towards consciousness and enlightenment first begins with the shock of being awoken from restful slumber.
