Is that how “ergonomics of a walrus” is translated from Russian? Russian defense minister calls to replace AK-47.

I realize that “AK-47” is practically shorthand for the AK series of rifles, but the Russians have been using the ’74 for quite a while now. Not that much difference, unless you’re firing full auto, then I’d much rather be shooting the ’74.

I thought I heard somewhere SIG released their SIG-556 in 7.62×39. Related?

You figure the Russians of all people would know the difference between an AK-47, and AKM, an AK-74, and an AK-74M, and the AN-94. They may not know shit about ergonomics or accuracy, but they should at least know nomenclature.
Plus, the ATF has banned the importation of barrels, so those parts kits would contain the following:
Bolt Carrier
Bolt
Front and Rear Sight
That’s pretty much it.

I seem to remember there was a followon to the AK74 that was developed but never adopted for cost reasons or something.
You’ll note the article leaves out one reason for popularity among terrorists and such being the Soviets gave the things away by the thousands or more.
For that matter, the M4 is accurate to 600? Since when?
