Well we should pray for the best, and prepare for the worst

There is extreme evil in high places and it’s “bipartisan” I might add. The reason: ONLY YOUR ENEMY WANTS YOU DISARMED

    SO,

from a “2a buy it while you can” perspective, what are the top three models to add to one’s arsenal ? (.i.e what will be at the top of the ban list?)

If they hit us, we hit back twice as hard. Oh, oh, better rethink that! Don’t want to sound uncivil!

If they bring a knife, we bring a gun! No, that isn’t what I want to say either…. To violent sounding!

How about, I think they are all washed-up anti-rights bigoted statist control freaks with no respect for the 2nd Amendment, and I’d like to report afterward that “They came on in the same old way, and we sent them back in the same old way.” Yeah, that sounds about right.

    Bert,

From what I’ve heard and read, current bills would go after hi-cap mags. I have heard that one bill would ban POSSESSION of hi-cap mags instead of the just sale and importation after the bill takes effect like the 1994 AWB. I actually bought a hi-capped mag, semi-auto rifle in 2003 before the AWB expired in 2004 because it had not been banned before the bill. But one that banning possession would instantly criminalize millions of gunowners thus creating “domestic terrorists”. That would be an ex post fact law, which is banned by the Constitution (Article I, Section 9.3), but then, when have these criminals which infest our government cared about that??!!

A great book for gunowers is “Boston’s Gun Bible” by Kenneth Royce (Boston T. Bible). In it he writes that if the gun banners knew anything about guns, they would go after the hi power, bolt-action scoped rifles first.

  7. mikee Says:

IF the gun banners knew anything about guns, they would no longer be gun banners.

  8. Ron W Says:

    mikee,

    Well-said!!

But then they don’t want to totally ban them, they want a gun ban alright–on us, enforced by guns, of course!

  9. ATLien Says:

let’em keep kicking the hornet’s nest. they want to learn the hard way, i guess.

While I agree 100% with your sentiments, the passage and enforcement of such a law wouldn’t be an “ex post facto” law. That would require that you be penalized for already having purchased a “high capacity” magazine. What they will pass (if we let them) is a law making all such items illegal to own from the effective date forward. They’ll ban production, importation and sales immediately upon the President’s signature, and give owners something like 6 months to turn in any mags that they currently have. Illegal under the 2nd Amendment? I think it is without a doubt – you cannot ban an essential feature such as a magazine, anymore than you can ban the ownership of a typewriter or printer, or bibles, and follow the 1st Amendment. Stupid beyond belief, on any number of scores? You betcha! But an ex post facto law? Nope.

That being said, I simply cannot see a law being passed that would make criminals out of somewhere north of 50 million people. Literally every single gun owner I know has either >10 round magazines or a tube-fed rifle with >10 round capacity, or both (most both, FYI)…and I know a lot of gun owners. There is simply no way that the people of this country will tolerate such a law, and it would hopelessly gum up our entire judicial system and our prisons if they tried to enforce it against 1% of the people to whom it would apply. Ain’t happening, and I doubt that such would pass in the first place. Even the ’94 ban didn’t criminalize existing owners and only passed with a sunset clause, and that with a fully Dem Congress and President, and without the proof that such a law didn’t do anything except make a few owners of hundreds or thousands of magazines very wealthy. You also have many, many millions more owners of such magazines and also many millions more magazines owned by people who already owned semi-autos when the ban expired in 2004, so enforcement will be that much more difficult.

Also making it more difficult will be the high likelihood that quite a few owners of such magazines will not surrender them peacefully.

I would urge every single person reading this to contact their Senators and demand that they filibuster any such bill, call your Congressman and demand that any such bill be scuttled, and call John Boehner’s office and demand the same. Let them know that this is a litmus test topic for you, and that their failure to do the right thing will result not only in you voting for their primary and general election opponents, but in the contribution of money to their opponents’ campaigns (and say the latter even if you don’t have the money – or will be spending it on magazines – since one thing that Congresscritters know how to do well is to count). Follow up the call or email with a letter – you know, a real live letter, sent via snail mail. They pay a LOT more attention to those, they take more effort to write and are viewed by the ‘critters as showing a lot more committment.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
