I’d like to agree but… If the Egyptian government falls, the Muslim Brotherhood behind these protesters takes over, Israel and probably the U.S. end up in another Middle Eastern war.
Another story on it here. Looks like he was throwing rocks at the police. In the video you can see him stop and pick up another rock, then just before he’s shot he turns toward the police like he’s getting ready to throw it.
Throwing a rock = assault with a deadly weapon. While here in the US that probably wouldn’t result in the police shooting in that situation, I can’t call it unjustified, either – not without more information. Especially if there was a concern that he would get the rest of the mob to start throwing rocks.

Israel gets nuked, Obama declares Martial Law “for our safety”. The United States of America b.1776 d.2011
To invade Israel, Egypt would have to kill a bunch of American (and other) soldiers who patrol the Sinai as part of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. That would be a bad idea, even with Obama in charge. A fundie-run Egypt would actively support Hamas in its war against Israel, which would be very bad and far more difficult to “prove,” but it wouldn’t involve a full-scale invasion which would see the Egyptian military destroyed in about five minutes. Even with everything in its favor, Egypt barely penetrated into Sinai in 1973. Today, its Army might have better equpiment, but it is still and Arab army and therefore wildly incompetant when it comes to combined operations. It would be a nuisance, but easily stopped. Cross-border support of terrorism is far more insidious and far more difficult to curtail.
Looks like Jordan is getting it also. But the Iranians on their State TV are saying the Egyptians are just doing what the Iranians did in the 70’s, and look how great things turn out when you get rid of the Great Satan! Combine this with the fact that Lebanon is about to be turned into the Hezbollah Republic, why, within a year all the Israeli Borders will be surrounded by IslamoFascist States. So how’s that reaching out and Bowing working out for keeping the Peace in the Middle East, Barry?

Bram is right, sadly. Egypt is a rare place where the government (for now) is saner than the people, as sick as that is.

regardless, seems difficult to justify that shooting.

That was aimed fire not random, two feet to the left and the cameraman gets it. To fight back you need a scope and hard cover.

At first glance I thought that link said “guns are more effective than pasties”
That’s a story I’d like to see.

Egypt doesn’t have nukes. Israel does. Israel would wipe the floor with Egypt.

Yeah look what they are doing without arms, so it is no wonder our government fears ours
