Virginia Supreme Court Upholds Ban on Gun Possession at Public University

Winning in California

The answer is always no.

An argument I hate

That one does not have a right to drive. SCOTUS has held you generally have a right to travel freely. The most common means of travel is driving.

Layers of editorial oversight

Oops.

Guns in Mexico

ATF allows guns to go to Mexico. Sort of like the drug war. Create a problem so you can have a job fixing it?

Germany suspends H&K exports to Mexico.

The most busted name in news

I think CNN is trying to say we should ban high capacity magazines for 105mm howitzers.

I’ve not blogged about food in a while

So here’s some things:

Chocolate Pots-de-Creme

Blue Cheese & Bacon Purple Potatoes

Toddy. They’re better with bourbon, IMO.

Press goes from ALL AK47 ALL THE TIME to ALL GLOCK ALL THE TIME

The Glock is a “rampage gun“.

ZOMG! people are buying Glock accessories.

Glock pistol sales surge.

Hell, scan the news for Glock.

Cartoon Fun

Heh.

Ramirez cartoon spells it out.

David Horsey apologizes for distasteful cartoon. Not inability to draw.

Special Guest Star

Tonight, on BB&Guns the one and only Major Caudill!

Dumb law

How would law-abiding gun owners know how far they are from government officials? Unless the statute also requires government officials to wear, let’s say, cowbells and gun owners to carry NFL yardage chains.

Jon Stewart

bad call

Robert Levy says regular capacity magazine ban probably not unconstitutional. Robb is disappointed.

I tend to think this might be a more academic response and, yes, now I think such a law might stand in court. But that will change. Glad Boehner is in charge.

The people respond

Gun sales up 60% in AZ. People have asked me why gun sales are up. Simple, I think. They fear politicians overreacting and doing something stupid like banning regular capacity magazines or Glocks. Glock sales up too.

A guide for liberal columnists

On how to write about firearms.

Funny but not for why they think

It’s kinda sad that it’s hard to tell the difference between The New York Times and The Onion.

Poll

Most Americans do not support more gun control. This, right after a mass shooting.

Starting out wrong

Donald Allen:

There is disagreement as to whether the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, due to the part referring to a “well regulated Militia”, means that only in the context of being part of a militia can an American own guns or if the Amendment guarantees the unqualified right of Americans to own guns and implies that it is because they may have to be part of a state militia.

No. That is a settled matter.

Because they work

The press asks why people, good or bad, go with Glocks. They work, reasonably priced, and simple to operate.

Lamentations

At Salon, Why gun control is dead in America:

As the immediate shock of the mass shooting in Arizona subsides and the conversation turns to gun control, it’s becoming increasingly clear that there is little chance that new anti-gun measures will pass the Republican-dominated Congress.

But a picture is also coming into focus of a gun control movement that has been on the retreat for at least a decade, facing setbacks not only in Congress, but also in the courts and in public opinion polls, and of a Democratic Party that, from President Obama on down, has all but ceded the issue to the National Rifle Association.

Their funding is fading. Their influence is non-existent. Truly, no movement has suffered more from the popularity of political discussion on the internet. Odd what happens when both sides of the story are told for a change. It’s not so much we’re winning as they’re losing.

The new trend will be the left moving on from guns to mental health issues?

The right to arms for soldiers

A surprise in the National Defense Authorization bill.

Quote of the Day

Breda:

The shooter believed the government was using grammar as a form of mind control. He was bugfucknuts which, as far as I’m aware, is a bipartisan issue.

Post shooting gun control push

Mostly from NY.

Basic Decency

Since I’m not sure who you’re addressing, I’ll presume it’s directed at everyone, including me. But there will be no apology from me, David. Perhaps Larry has changed his mind on the issue and, if so, good for him. But Pratt is backpedaling and lying about it instead of admitting he screwed up. Because his staff was parroting the same line the day before his email went out alleging that he was misquoted.

In other news, I never thought I’d hear the term GOA Apologist, which is amusing having been called an NRA Apologist enough times.

Boy, that’s a relief

That the person who killed all those people was white.

Democrats and guns

After Saturday’s shootings in Tucson, Ariz., U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., said that he plans to apply for a permit to carry a handgun.

We’re number one

Top 11 gun owning countries.

Glock Bumpfire

Real or no?

Joe Wilson “You Lie” AR-15 Lower

Heh.

I can’t actually find it at Palmetto State Armory’s website though.

Language Police

Gasp! That phrase offends. So we cannot use it. Or take seriously those who do.

Everyone knows that they’re not actually talking about Jews murdering children. Whenever someone prefaces anything by the offense at language, it is usually to minimize someone’s point or to avoid unpleasant confrontation. Sorry, that doesn’t fly.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
