SHOT on the tubes

From a presser:

Through special arrangement with SHOT Show organizers and select exhibitors, the nation’s hunters and shooters will be able to get an exclusive look at new firearms, ammunition and other exciting innovations on GunBroker.com at the same time they are announced to the trade. Starting on the show’s opening date of January 18, visitors to GunBroker.com will be able to learn about these products months before others may have a chance to see them.

“GunBroker.com has enjoyed a productive business relationship with the SHOT Show and with the National Shooting Sports Foundation for years, and we are extremely excited about this major expansion of our partnership,” commented Steve Urvan, GunBroker.com founder and CEO. “Also, we appreciate the tremendous support of our 1.6 million GunBroker.com users and three million monthly unique visitors in making our growth and success possible. We are pleased that we can bring this special service to our loyal supporters and new users in 2011.”

GunBroker.com’s special “2011 SHOT Show Product Center” will be open online from January 18 to March 1. Sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the SHOT Show has long been the largest display of firearms and other hunting and shooting equipment in the world. Because the SHOT Show is a professional trade show closed to the public, the actual exhibits can be viewed only by professional retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and members of the media. The 2011 SHOT Show will be held in Las Vegas.

Media Math

Yesterday, we learned that three = extensive firearms stockpile. Today, we learn that some war trophies and pointy things = small arsenal.

Reading the list of items in his checked bag, I don’t really see the weapons violations. In TN, knives over four inches, clubs, and brass knuckles are unlawful to carry. But, in his checked bag, he wasn’t really carrying them but transporting them. To my knowledge, that is a lawful activity. And inert grenades are just paperweights.

Odd.

Mass Deaths of animals

Birds dropping dead from the sky. Lots of dead fish showing up on lake shores. Sign of the apocalypse? Les Jones: I can’t tell if this bird story is a big deal or not.

Apparently, these sorts of things happen often enough but the press is latching on.

Know guns, know peace

Clerk looks at robber’s gun and realizes it’s a toy. Doesn’t comply.

68 year old grandfather killed in drug raid

Not the target of the raid, of course. Collateral damage in the war on drugs. No weapons charges. Says the report: During the execution of the search warrant a firearm was discharged by a SWAT team member and a round struck a resident. Passive way of saying they shot a man.

In DC

Second amendment challenges to pre-Heller gun ban convictions can proceed.

Shocking

Local Man Wrongly Receives Five Red Light Camera Citations. This seems to happen often enough despite an officer swearing on a legal document that someone ran a light.

There’s an app for that.

Did they realize it was illegal?

White House puts stop on ATF’s made up rule about multiple long gun sales reporting. This rule would have been illegal, but that never stops bureaucrats. Bonus link to ATF’s Emergency Justification documents.

You tried to warn me

Mentioned the deal on M&P mags at Botach. Just got notified that they’re out of stock and back ordered. No ETA. Good thing I don’t need them right now.

Anyone know some place else I can get a few for a good price?

Things I don’t get

Tam talks scout rifles. I don’t really get them other than, yeah, they’re pretty cool. But they don’t do any job great but do most jobs sort of OK. She’s especially unimpressed with the cost of Ruger’s new mags.

That’s no moon, it must be God

Bill O’Reilly doesn’t know the gravitational effects of the sun and moon and the earth cause tides to flow. I shit you not:

O’REILLY: I’ll tell you why [religion’s] not a scam, in my opinion: tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. You can’t explain that.
SILVERMAN: Tide goes in, tide goes out?
O’REILLY: See, the water, the tide comes in and it goes out, Mr. Silverman. It always comes in, and always goes out. You can’t explain that.

Maybe he and ICP should put their heads together and figure out this magnet business.

Bleg: Large SUVs

My last vehicle bleg worked well so I figured I would ask. For the Mrs. and her people-hauling adventures, she wants something larger than the Honda Pilot. What do you recommend? Requirements:

Nothing from GM or subsidiaries. I will not drive a government car ever.

Same for Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, etc. No bailout company will get my money.

Enough towing for mulch and household stuff on a trailer.

For price range, I don’t really know where these things start. So help me out there. (I like my Infiniti and checked out Infiniti’s Earthfuckertm. But at $60K, no thanks.

Bonus points for annoying hippies.

Sorry. You do a post with the word prescription in it, and wordpress thinks all comments are spam.

Citizen, not subject

A suit:

A man who emigrated to the United States from the United Kingdom more than 30 years ago filed a lawsuit Monday against the state of South Dakota after his application for a concealed weapon permit was denied.

Under South Dakota law, a person must be a U.S. citizen in order to qualify for a concealed weapon permit, but Wayne Smith contends that provision violates the U.S. Constitution.

Smith, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union of South Dakota, filed his lawsuit in federal district court.

A lot of things I like about this suit: Seeing someone from Where Great Britain Used To Be wanting a carry permit; seeing the citizen requirement challenged; and that the ACLU is representing the guy.

Blood in the streets

We hear cries there will be blood in the streets any time some place liberalizes their gun carry laws. And it keeps not happening.

And the number of the counting shall be three

In the press, three = extensive firearms stockpile.

Smith & Wesson Model 22A Review

From JayG

Like his defense

Reporters and producers were discussing use of the word nigger in a story, during a meeting. One white reporter said:

“Does this mean we can finally say the word n-?”*

Anyway, he was fired for it. He sued claiming discrimination. Seems that black people using the word in the workplace were not fired.

* As an aside, the press account can’t use the word nigger even to reference it as a word? I think I see the problem.

Perhaps the dumbest politician you’ll ever see

Caught this the other night. There’s a whole lot of stupid here:
