If there is a self-defense event and one is wearing a bulletproof vest during it, can one be prosecuted for the use of the vest before there is a conviction for charges for assault, etc.? Because if I had a chance to put on a bulletproof vest while someone was breaking into my home at 2am, and then the burglar got shot, I’d hate to get convicted of wearing the vest, then later get acquitted of shooting him.
So if you use a firearm in self-defense and “take cover” behind something hopefully inpenetrable in the process, is that illegal? Wouldn’t putting on a bullet-proof vest be taking cover?
When the process of self-defense of, by and for the people, is made illegal, we know that our government is being run by criminals and that our society has descended into barbarism.

Ron….So what’s your point???
From what I can see in a hasty search, in most states it is legal to own and wear a vest if you are not a felon, or commiting a felony. In some places you have to apply to state or local gov for permission to buy one, and in some places simple possession is illegal for non LEOs. WTF?! I guess you can’t travel with one.

Correct, see e.g., Indiana Code 35-47-5-13, “Unlawful Use of Body Armor”.
