Good news

The long gun reporting requirement has been delayed, and it is likely illegal.

Those poor investigators, being setback like that.

What a logistical nightmare. Now they won’t be able to plan correctly to keep the border guards away while they are smuggling guns into mexico….

  2. mikee Says:

Delayed is not defeated, revoked, buried with a stake through the heart with decaptitation. Delayed means they still want to implement it, but cannot do so just yet.

Await the next crisis, and then don’t let it go to waste, perhaps?

  3. Phssthpok Says:

    So…lemme get this straight:

The ATF wants to jam through an emergency ‘rule’ (that will have force and effect of law) requiring FFL’s to report multiple long gun sales when there is credible evidence that they deliberately ignored/approved questionable transfers VOLUNTARILY REPORTED in order to pad the numbers of traceable guns going across the border?

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over?

  4. Kristopher Says:

Long gun reporting only works if the ATF reports all of the long guns it transfers to mexican gang members.

  5. rickn8or Says:

the OMB made an unusual announcement that ATF had won a budget battle.

And BATFE didn’t have to shoot up a church or anything.

Somebody ought to clue the Post that “assault weapons” have been perfectly legal since 2004.

  6. Beaumont Says:

The bureaucracy continues to descend into self-evident madness.

  7. Ron W Says:

    rickn8or,

They like the term “assault weapons” to inject fear-mongering into their anti-gun agenda. But “assualt” is either a crime or an offensive military tactic for which full-auto weapons are used. I refer to my hi-cap, semi-auto rifles as counter-assault weapons with which I would defend against those engaging in the crime or tactic of assault against me.

  8. Bubblehead Les Says:

Funny how one legal gun purchase in Tucson killed more people in the U.S. than all those “Assault” weapons have done on our side of the Border. If the Mexican Federales can’t stop those guys, then they should either quit and move to France with the rest of the Cowards, or declare Martial Law and wipe out the Drug Gangs with a few air-strikes on their compounds. This half-baked way of doing things WILL eventually cause more deaths on our side of the country, though, and some people over here may just show Batfeieio just what a so-called “Assault” weapon can do to restore Law and Order when DHS has their collective thumbs up their butts.

  9. Chas Says:

“…semiautomatic rifles of greater than .22 caliber with detachable magazines.”

That will become the basis in law for the next ban, the same way ATF just used the defunct Clinton AWB to make a list of features to be banned on imports.
The history of gun control is that whatever they get, they will use as leverage against us in the future. They should get nothing.
Mexico needs to hold Mexicans responsible for Mexican behavior, and not blame their country’s problems on American freedom. We aren’t the ones down there south of the border pulling triggers and cutting off heads.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
