Why I like the point and click interface

I’ve said before that I really have no use for manual safety devices on handguns. If I want it to go bang, I pull the trigger. No switches, gizmos, doodads, or other extraneous things to fumble with in a high stress situation. But if you’re going to have a gun with manual safeties, it’s best to be trained to use it:

[Victim] says she tried to shoot intruder, gun wouldn’t go off

The gun, as it turned out, had three separate safety mechanisms. She said Holman grabbed the barrel, and the two became locked in a struggle over the weapon. But as seconds passed with no sounds from her husband, she gave up.

Not sure what gun that would be. The article shows the murderer’s gun to be a Ruger.

Know how the weapons in your house work.

Well at least the gun was ‘safe’.

Reminds me of Skeeter Skelton and the lady who noticed his 1911 was cocked in the holster.

She asked, “Sir, do you know that gun is cocked?”

    He said, “Yes’em”

    She asked, “Isn’t that dangerous?”

    He retorted, “You bet’cha”

Just make sure you gun can be dangerous to the right people when needed! Instantly!

Some reporter probably looked up the specs and found it had a “drop safety”.

  3. Gunmart Says:

Atleast there was no gun lock to have to take off

  4. ViolentIndifference Says:

No lever safety, one in the pipe, full mag. Nearby. Not in a safe.

Protect children from it, protect it from children. That is the safety I implement.

She may have known how to use it but panic and adrenaline can make you forget things. To bad you cannot sue the politicians that ruin your life….

  6. Jake Says:

Looks like she intentionally didn’t know how to use it.

Graves has hated guns ever since her father died from an accidental shooting

It was her choice, and I would not force anyone to choose otherwise. It doesn’t sound like it would have saved her husband, but I do wish she had been able to ventilate him.

  7. Jake Says:

    “ventilate the attacker.” I meant.

  8. Paul Says:

Now that I think about it, I bet it had a ‘trigger lock’ safety, hammer drop safety, and a magazine safety.

    Sounds like a Bersa….

I agree, Uncle. I have no trust in safeties, not even the decockers like in the Sigs. You know your gun is loaded, keep your finger off the trigger.

  10. sam Says:

If he grabbed the barrel, it’s possible it was pushed out of battery, and that’s why it wouldn’t fire.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
