One of the weirdest parts is that the referendum specifically bans pump action shotguns, but not semi-autos. I wonder why they think pump action shotguns are so dangerous. Same thing in Austria. It’s the other way around (for now) in the USA.
This also shows the dangers of direct democracy. A majority in their elected parliament opposes this referendum yet they can’t stop a popular vote. If they were a representative republic only, a gun ban would not even be considered at this time.

Shouldn’t this be “subjects” instead of “citizens”?
I hope the Swiss people repel this garbage legislation or constitutional change.
