Swiss Gun Control

A referendum to vote on the issue there.

Hope it doesn’t pass, but it probably will. Europe is pretty much lost anyway.

One of the weirdest parts is that the referendum specifically bans pump action shotguns, but not semi-autos. I wonder why they think pump action shotguns are so dangerous. Same thing in Austria. It’s the other way around (for now) in the USA.

This also shows the dangers of direct democracy. A majority in their elected parliament opposes this referendum yet they can’t stop a popular vote. If they were a representative republic only, a gun ban would not even be considered at this time.

“The concept that the state trusts the citizen goes back several hundred years — having a gun at home has become part of that pact,” said Daniel Möckli, senior research fellow at the Center for Security Studies in Zurich.

    The state trusts the citizens?

    Who cares?

Shouldn’t this be “subjects” instead of “citizens”?

I hope the Swiss people repel this garbage legislation or constitutional change.

It found more support… in the French-speaking region…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
